Quite the development!!!

I fear, whatever may turn up, that queen won’t bother with yet another release :/

Thanks, Miklos!

Glad you are on the case.

Thanks in advance for keeping us up-to-date ;-)

And my fingers are crossed that all Queen footage will be found. It is truly astounding footage and the complete show uncut would be a dream come true for me. It is THAT good!

The last release was in 2012 so it's time for a rerelease :-)

Brian isn't keen on releasing awesome soundboard recordings like the ones he has from NOTW and Crazy tour (which is a poor decision by him) BUT a TOP QUALITY FILM of Queen in Budapest.... he will want to release that! (and I'm glad he at least wants that).

Must say to have a different edit and the complete show would be quite something!!! (as I said in my previous post ;-)

Assuming that the chemically unstable and improperly stored negative is still usable.
And that the mentally unstable and improperly advised Brian is also usable.

Strictly in terms of "lost and found" it is great that lost archive footage of our favorite band may exist.
But is not clear how, why and who will fructify it.

If they find the original film wheels would it also mean the concert would be in full wide screen and we would get more of the picture ?

((**partial excitement!!!**)))

This is GREAT news for film in general... as for this thread, this is positive news for Queen fans.

Great research and fingers crossed. To be honest though, it's a shame it's this particular show though. Maybe it's just too familiar. I wonder if the off stage stuff is included? Some of that was amazing especially John's bit.

Thats why i wrote details also about the film "The Witness" where the film was shot in 1969, the outtakes were found and now restored in (reportedly near perfect) 4K and shown in Cannes festival archive cinema section - if the 1969 outtakes survived -in that crappy wooden warehouse- the last 20 years of improper storage, 1986 reels are probably have a good chance also - the 35mm film to digital transfer technique also radically improves every decade .

Let’s not forget that Mafilm just shot the concert. The rest on the boat, soundcheck , reception etc was all shot by DORO who made a mess of their archive aswell.
You made us laugh, you made us cry, you made us feel like we could fly!

Very interesting story, thanks Miklos! Always nice to see missing works turn up. Hopefully the concert will be restored.

I see the restored version of "The Witness" will premier June 1 at Urania. Wish my Hungarian was better, it looks like a good film. The censored version scored 8.6 at IMDB.

Those are probably the best news in few last years. I have fingers crossed. Would be amazing amount of unluck if those reels from this show wouldn't be there. I'm looking forward for next info. I allwyas believe that those tapes wasn't destroyed and its great to see i was right(maybe ofcourse). Is almost time for some other concert rellease and since qpl liked to rellease stuff there is quite some chance. Man i dont care how long it could take finnish work on those tapes, uncut budapest would be wet dream come true. But ofcourse the question is how healthy those tapes will be.

surely in good enough condition to be at least a new bonus feature on a Hungarian Rhapsody rerelease. Speaking of, I'm surprised qpl hasn't rereleased either Montreal or Budapest on the new 4K format, especially since Montreal got a 4k restoration

He'll definitely want it. This is the Magic tour after all!

I'll be honest, when I saw the title, I thought at 1st: "here we go again" Til I read Miklos' post. This sparked some long-forgotten hope for me. Judging from the picture, the warehouse doesn't look too old, I mean look at that door. Anyway, til then, as a favorite character of mine said: Wait and hope I guess (and QPL, if these footages ever come out of their vaults, PLEASE, OH PLEASE GOD get your shit together for this, though you probably won't)
