Ive always been of the opinion that this set does more harm than good, although not everyone has agreed with me,and most people will already have these concerts in various forms,I myself still have a Laserdisc player and therefore have these concerts.....But then, not everyone has been enjoying Queen since 1971,have they....this set is really for the new fans that the Newish Record Label,Island Records, wish to attract to be able to keep on releasing favourite Concerts like Hammersmith in the Future,so the more money that is made from these sets indicates to the band how much interest there is CURRENTLY in their past Live shows.....Think of this boxset as a re-setting the slate, and the first stepping stone.....That is why I will buy it....plus the extras....x

I would preferred the following to be remixed even if just audio.
Buenos Aries 81
A Leiden 82 or 86
Mannheim 86.
We're not even sure if they have these in the archives. But Buenos Aires and Mannheim could be there to say the least.
It would be fair enough to first release some 70's show, not an 80's one again, even though given the fact that it's never been released before.

GT: IS Rio remixed and remastered, or just basically a VHS Rip like the Japan 85 DVD release?
Thanks
VHS rip.
I know you have nothing to do with the releases but... WHY a VHS rip? Why not (at least) a transfer from the master source tape of the vhs?... even a LD rip is better than a -Ultra Lazy- VHS rip...
Respect the 70`s gigs QP are in extreme too much detailed and thorough. (except the edited Rainbow, and part of Hamm 75 on tv, they don´t want to release nothing cause the ""poor"" quality)
Respect 80`s gig they release ANYTHING, even the worse footage available (i.e a vhs rip).
What is the key? Freddie´s moustache maybe?

Another release with 'over the top' effort from QPL...
Gary, it's really interesting what do YOU think about this kind of releases???
Let's hope Rio '85 shows will receive proper restoration in the future...
I can understand it from a business point of view but obviously I personally would have liked to of seen this concert released as a complete set with both shows, and the extras on TV that were from the time of these two shows in Rio.
Thanks for your honesty, GT ;)

Will the "Rio" be coming out on "SD Bluray"? I mean they ripped us off for the "Freddie Tribute" Bluray, I mean - come on, what was the point of releasing the Freddie Tribute on Bluray at all when it was only in SD?
Sad, Sad, Times....
What's the problem with FM Tribute on SD Blu-Ray?
You receive ALL material on ONE disc in the BEST possible quality at the cheaper price in comparison to 3 DVD disc set with lower resolution and bitrate for higher price ???
SD-Bluray is the best desicion for original video in standart resolution for today.
I'll be the first who will by Wembley '86 & MK Bowl '82 concerts (once again) on SD-Blu-Ray if they will be reissued on SD-BluRay.
I agree with this.

I think the answer of WHY A VHS RIP lies in the fact bootleg companies are selling VHS rips as well. Even through official sellers like HMV and other big companies.
I agree we need a official release of the Rio show.... but only after 2 or 3 70´s releases please !

I don't think that GT means it will be technically a transfer from the vhs tape, because they could easily use the (better) Laserdisc source as they did for the Tokyo' 82 bonus on 'Queen On Fire' dvd. What he's trying to say is that this dvd edition will feature exactly the same content as the old vhs release (55 mins of butchered show, same audio mix, no documentary, no extra songs, no extra features).

Brian and Roger have become very lazy with regards to any Queen releases it's as if they cant be bothered, i'd rather Mannheim 86 on DVD.

Sure, they're going to use a VHS as the basis for Rio...

Same for the Montreal DVD. The 2nd disc had a VHS rip of the Tokyo 1982 show. ...or laserdics rip.
