They should have toured with Prince on bass and vocals and Michael Jackson on lead.

That would have been great. ..mm. true Rock Royalty. ..

Hmmm....... so much valium for my broken.... uh... finger.

Adam's actually doing a good job. His stage persona ain't much ; he's not charismatic. ... but then again this is THE dream gig, and must be really intimidating.

For George Michael fans. ... he's basically looking like a GM clone sometimes. That and 78-79 Freddie

The first time out he looked like a drag queen version of Gary Numan.

And after cutting down the ridiculous trills and annoyances he's keeping his voice quite fitting for the queen catalogue. He doesn't sound as shrill.

Just my opinion. His timbre is far different than Freddie... but looking at Brian in the first show towards the end of STL its become apparent that they are SET on keeping this guy. I'd anticipate a project in the studio, if even a charitable thing.

The guy from Keane did a nice job on Its a Hard Life, also this guy Jimmy Gnecco could be a nice option.
Queen: Roger Taylor, Mike Grose, Freddie Mercury, Brian May.

George Michael lacks the humour for Queen, in my opinion. He's good, but he always comes over serious. [/QUOTE]

In real life he has got a lot of humour and quite venomus and articulate, almost like Freddie actually. In stage i agree. Too sober.

He so hard tried to detach hishelf from WHAM! ( who used humour and camp) going to the other end of the spectrum.

I ve been a hard-core GM fan for years but what you say never crossed my mind.
The gay-Elvis remark i read somewhere seemed more spot-on.

The 78-79 Freddie thing...Oh come on.Noone ever looked THAT bad...

^ I mean the biker look....DSMN not the sequin red onesie or the popcorn bucket short shorts with suspenders.

(*all looks he really pulled off imho)

Only time they looked bad was in the kimonos and on the works tour.

Wtf were they thinking? I know it was the 80's but I mean. ...c'mon! Ffs!

I have this daft idea that it would be fantastic if Queen could team up with Elton John, with John Deacon also coming back just for this occasion, and do three shows - one in Tokyo, one in Budapest and a last one in London (Wembley). They then could bow out gracefully, forever.

I think the fans would go absolutely nuts for something like that.

IMHO Elton John sang TSMGO rather competently.

To be honest, this is very interesting topic.... It would project our tastes into our options. :)

I have to admit that my dream never happened..... and will never happen. I always thought that best ever option for singer with Queen+ project would be Ronnie James Dio. Sometimes he´s described as "Freddie Mercury of hard & heavy" and I think that it´s brilliant description! :)

But other names:
1.) John Farnham
2.) Paul Rodgers
3.) Tom Chaplin
4.) George Michael
5.) JSS
Freddie is irreplaceable, but Q+PR were great! Q+AL are disaster. :(

Paul Rodgers did a great job where as Adam Lambert is just a fucking idiot wanna pop twat ... I think Robbie Williams would have done a fantastic job

if ronnie dio joined them in the 90's after freddie died and they did a innuendo tour that would be awesome. he is his own man and legend, his voice was incredible and he could hit those high notes and he also had a commanding stage presence and charisma. what really could you ask out of the frontman? and also he is the only musicican/singer along with freddie, gillan in the 70's and possibly michael matijevic that i could imagine singing opera without laughing. i like axl rose and his voice but just try to imagine with straight face him singing opera.

dio - a given on some tracks - but the setlist would also be padded out with rainbow/dio/sabbs tracks - some of which don't suit brian's style
gillan - noooooooooooooooo!!! he's a squealer...with only one style...deffo not
axl - regardless of what he can/can't sing (mostly can't btw) - he's a every kind of d*ck/c*nt and arseh*le rolled into one - which makes him unworkable as a bandmember....13yrs for one album - and then it was crap? f*ck him

I don't disagree. He's always come across alright on his interviews.

if dio joined brian and roger in the 70's they could do concerts without rainbow/dio/sabbath stuff although i think many people would enjoy at least one song per band. gillan had one of the most amazing voices in the 70's, who else can sing child in time like that? that's just one song but he was brilliant on pretty much anything then.

I hate to say you are wrong with ALL of these choices (Bellamy, Grohl, Michaels and ...Pink) but don't forget how people grade these singers.

I'll compare it to the Batman movie series, in a sense, as people always seem to associate the worst aspects of their career in relation to their new role:

Michael Keaton (Mr. Mom)
Christian Bale (American Psycho - Not really)
Ben Affleck (Gigli)

or even the Brokeback Mountain actor who won most people's heart.

To answer the question though: The best singer in tone quality and range may be Red Panther or something from The Protomen

hard song to sing and that is still a stretch...

Queen was lucky enough to put out a GREAT discography of highs and lows, Beatles are the only other ones (I can think of) to do that. Please Please Me to Abbey Road is great in giving you a satisfying career. Maybe its the same with Pink Floyd.

What I really think everyone should try to do is support the bands that are coming out now that give it their all (especially in the race to become worthy of Queen quality)

My number one pick is DEFINITELY Foxy Shazam. I've seen these guys live for a while. Freddie would get tired following this guy on stage. Here is them trying to be Queen several times.

Vocally, background vocals and silliness:

-Would have fit in Jazz.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rz4I69mQMo
-The closest thing to a modern Fat Bottomed girls.

They have a lot of great material to fix your appetite. Bassist even has some John Deacon-ish riffs in "Holy Touch". Yet they find little support because of this elitism to classic rock.

My Chemical Romance and Fun.now have a stigma due to their fame but "Welcome to the Black Parade"and "Aim and Ignite" have Queen all over them.

Foxy Shazam are much like The Darkness, only a little less bearable for me.

ONE album is like the darkness

Could that be like the Darkness

Is that the Darkness

No it seems like it was one album

All live.

The worst thing you can do is stick a band to their biggest album/hit. They guys have songs that'd fit on any Queen albums and not as outtakes. By that logic,Queen in America is just a funk/rockabilly band.
