He was wrong. Have a look below, this Blu-ray is an UPCONVERTED "high def" release (or as Eagle Rock Entertainment puts it, "SD Blu-ray")

Which has been busted several times to not be true.

And if you watch closely in that SCC preview video, there are instances of microphony artifacting which you ONLY get with analog video cameras. That's not something you'd get on a film recording, and also certainly not something they'd add in post-production either!

You're right: Rainbow will be released in SD Bluray...
wasn't this concert filmed to be seen in cinemas? and what about the "Cinema reels 35mm film rip" uploadeded by Ghostwithasmile?

The concerts were shot and edited on VIDEOTAPE.
The edited version was later transferred to 35mm film for the theatrical release.
Same thing was done in the 60's and the 70's quite often in the UK - see Doctor Who

Just amazing! I defy anyone who claims that they get the same feeling from listening to AL sing this as when Freddie sang it. It's just not possible. Anyone who claims that AL sounds good singing this song is either taking the piss or just simply delusional.
Umm, the fact that you think you're seeing people say they like Lambert as much as Mercury just might mean that you're the one who's delusional. At most, people are simply defending Brian and Roger's right to exist with a different singer and not be subjected to a lynch mob for defecting from the Mercurial religion held by some.
As for the video itself - I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it, but there are no vocal overdubs present !
Really? I didn't compare it yet to the previous versions but if you're correct, that's great!

Ok thank you!

This is quite interesting. I was always curious as to why you get those lines on video tape. They appear quite a bit in concert footage, so loud noise is to blame I guess.

Which information? I thought it's common knowledge.
1) My eyes - it looks like video, not like film
2) There is a video tape editor mentioned at the end of the VHS
3) It has lots of typical video problems, e.g. the microphony effect as mentioned by inu
4) And of course it was converted to 35mm for theatrical release, cinemas don't have VCRs. Plus at least one person has a 35mm print, which he shared here
5) And I think either Gary or Greg mentioned it too

My goodness, some people on here are a bunch of wacky old whiners.
We`re FINALLY getting a nice 70s concert on a Blu-Ray disc! And STILL some people are complaining.
" Oh no, listen to the bass drum, master tapes are damaged" FFS it`s a 40 year old recording, everything gets sóme damage over time.
" It`s from the 20th not the 19th " So freaking what? It`s STILL Rainbow `74 we`re getting in 35mm quality!
" It doesn`t have overdubs" Who gives a crack? I mean, come on... Of Course it`s great to have something without overdubs but, the thing that comes to mind is "Shine A Light" that Rolling Stones concert movie thingy, that was released on DVD WITHOUT OVERDUBS, it was the most sloppy performance Keith Richards ever gave in front of camera`s but you dont hear people complain about that? (Allthough there really are a couple of dents in some places) Because it`s pure and raw.
Listen to Live At Wembley will ya? A lot of songs are overdubbed, vocals/guitars, stuff like that, HOWEVER, John`s Bass Guitar is out of tune during Tear It Up.
BUT, They DID Melodyne Freddie`s vocals on One Vision at the Friday gig.
But still, it`s a fantastic concert by a fantastic group, overdubs or not, 40 years old or not, from this date or that date, who gives a crap.
You people would find something to hate about if Brian May would release the Knebworth Footage from the Big Screen because " There`s too much Close-up`s of Freddie " or something.
I fully agree with the general sentiment of your post. Indeed, some people will never be pleased. But you can't expect people not to dig into the juicy details beforehand, since they'll be talking about the content itself after it's released.. !

How about this - a photo of a TV camera at the show !
And anything shown in a movie theatre in the 70s had to be transferred to a film reel.

There was a ton of microphony during Live Aid, just about when Brian's guitar kicked in Bo Rhap , when Freddie sings "MAMA!" Peter Hince said Trip Khalaf did the sound the whole day and crank the sound levels just for Queen.

To those claiming it's not interlaced... Take a look at Roger when he's drumming for instance, it's quite obvious.
