We've had this topic many times, we'll never know, Freddie's illness certainly brought the band closer together over the last two albums, after they nearly split up in the mid 80's pre- live aid, Freddie did want to record with Montserrat again, and he definitely would have produced some of the current acts, yes even Glambo , I think he would have seen a kindred spirit there. I still think John would have quit after the magic tour, its well documented that he was unhappy with the limelight. My gut feeling is that they would have carried on making stunning albums, shorter tours, then go away and do their solo things, there was a spirit/glue call it what you will that binded them together, and brought the best out of each other. The sum of the whole was greater than the part, and they all knew it. But they would have had a new bassist. But we'll never know, and that's my educated guess, anyone disagree ?

I think they would've continued into the 90s, but been a lot less active.
The last three albums obviously wouldn't have existed in the form that they did, so excluding those, we can argue with some gusto that One Vision was the only time they creatively had a fire in their belly after Hot Space. When you look at it that way, maybe they just would've fizzled out. If it weren't for Live Aid, they probably wouldn't have survived past 1985.
Who knows if even the Magic tour would've looked the same. Would Mercury have wanted to do an entire tour of huge stadium shows had he not known it was going to be his last tour? We now know that he knew.
That said - I just cannot picture an old Freddie Mercury. I can picture the entire 27 club as senior citizens, but not Mercury.

I think with Freddie's drive they would've aspired to keep up with their rivals in the 90's, and for sure those last three albums would have sounded different, but Freddie was a born performer, he'd have had the face lifts, botox etc to keep looking good, so I believe he'd have played live, and a solo tour possibly. In truth I don't think Queen would have been as huge in the 90's/ 2000s'as as they were in 70's/80's, how many bands are ? Its interesting to speculate, its just fabulous that Queen are having such a fab 2014, just a pity Fred's not out there with them : (

Unfortunately theres quite a lot of retards on this forum. So a lot of threads will either get shot down straight away or stretch for pages of personal abuse.
