By the way way, why Freddie stopped giving interviews from 1989 onward? The only person who was doing interviews with Queen was Rudi Dolezal. It's not like he would have asked Freddie tricky questions. They could have filmed him from far away so we wouldn't have seen the damage done to his face.

Probably because he was more focused on work. It gave him a reason to live, and that's where the majority of his energy must've gone.

It's something I wonder about. hey half of the songs on miracle was about brushing off that Freddie was ill/hoping that there will be a cure soon/thanks for the support over the years. But there was some interesting/teasing look into what queen were about to embark on music wise into the 90s atleast.. I want it all as Brian has mentioned on the commentary to gh2 DVD. An exciting very stripped down live approach to making a song and the video music to go with it... A direction I feel, that would have pushed the grunge alt rock era all the way.
Gotta remember that king Freddy was a fashion designer.. And to be highly respected in that profession you have to be constantly up with the times, which Freddie was... He was always up with the times, esp musically and queen as a band they where always there or there abouts on the cool factor.
Visually too the 40s suited Freddie!! He looked.... Can't find the right words but those earlier vids of the miracle with the stubble he looked good

He did. But you can still tell that he'd lost his mojo. He wasn't the same Freddie we saw in the Princes of the Universe video.

Wiz man it seems to me in '89 he lost that spark the one that made the prior videos memorable he does his best but after he was diagnosed I think he could care less about the videos he just wanted to make the music

Freddie said he would not be on stage when he was older because it would look ridiculous!

Deaky boy is another interesting topic on that note... There were plenty...? Well some interviews in the early 80s after the gaps between hotspace and the works where he felt like a spare wheel and alittle depressed while the others were on doing solo albums... Even later on there was enough to suggest that he was well and truly committed to queen after the other gab between magic and miracle... Shit he had three... THREE song writing credits on magic and.. Some concrete evidence to some significant parts in three songs... Maybe a forth on miracle...?. Shit the late 80s where hard for queen... A huge world tour for the works and an equally hard slog for the magic tour to have been told about Freddies condition... Johns properly the most delicate of the group with a loss of a father, not being able to sing and do singles, huge family, alittle too reserved to push his ideas to Brian and Roger and other things... But his contribution in those two albums was huge... for him anyway... With Freddie in the band to support John's taste of music, john would still be there... Haha who knows, with the step up on songwriting or more collaborations with Freddie... He could have overtaken roger for number of song credits

Add in his distaste for the limelight and you have a case had freddie not been ill john may have left queen

I agree with jeffab 1995, Deaky would not have stayed with the band post magic tour, he wanted out, regardless of the state of Freddie's health !
