Where does Brian actually say Adam is the first/only person to inspire them to tour since 1991?

"When Freddie went, I thought ‘That’s it. We did that. It was a great life. Now, it’s time to have a different life.’ " “And for years, we didn’t try to be Queen in any way. I would look at the Forum in LA, and I would look at Madison Square Garden, and I would think ‘Those were the days.’ " So far so good. This describes the situation up until 2004 or so. "To come back now, all of these years later, and to fill those places and to hear that noise." “I think [Adam Lambert] has woken us up — and just in time. There’s a big call to do more shows now. So, there’s a good possibility that we will do more shows. I think, beyond that, we’ll just see.” Unfortunately you didn't come back now, and it wasn't Adam who woke you up. He's just the one you're with this time around. (I suppose you can argue with semantics and say that they didn't actually play at the Forum or MSG with Paul Rodgers, but it doesn't actually change the idea behind this interview of Brian.) “It’s a great place to be. I feel so fortunate to be going out there. I never thought it would happen again." You didn't think that it would happen again after Freddie, but what about Paul Rodgers? You toured with him years ago, so another revival wasn't going to be that unexpected.

There's been a 'big call' for QP to put out products from Queens's past for the last God knows how many years. Yes, we've had bits and bobs and we're finally getting Rainbow and some unreleased recordings on Queen Forever but how long do fans have to wait for this stuff? What about the boxsets that were mentioned on the Freddie boxset 14 years ago?

The rule of thumb is that if you fall off the horse, you get back right on it, or you will be too scared to ride. Queen, post Freddie, did not get back right on the horse. If they got themselves a new lead singer in 1993, things would look a lot better now. They did not, the world moved on, and things are the way they are.

What Martel says about AL:

"In my opinion, Queen has the current best male singer in the world singing for them," Martel says of Lambert. "I went to see their show in New York, and the dude does not strain or miss a single note. He's an incredible virtuoso."

Adam Lambert should turn his focus on his own career and not look back.

If only he was a credible rock singer then he'd be perfect.

I don't know how many people still oppose the Q+AL tours. Honestly, it doesn't bother me like it used to - it's apparent that Brian and Roger aren't vocally strong enough to hold up a whole show like that on their own anymore, and Lambert seems to have improved quite a bit.

Queen and Adam Lambert got rave reviews here in Australia. I have got to admit I was surprised. There is some of the energy of Queen again, whereas that would not seem to have been the case with Paul Rodgers. So I agree with Brian on that point.

I think it's probably too late for Brian and Roger to start another full on career with Lambert, but it was great seeing Roger and Brian especially doing something very special on stage. It was a concert that I'll never forget.

LOL - EXACTLY. Ya negative bastards.

Things are going great and he says so. Nice to hear. VERY nice actually.

Also, while I thought Queen with PR was very good, it meant we heard LESS QUEEN SONGS (!!!) and that's not good.

So I prefer the current line-up.

I found this and i didn't know where to put it, is a poster from Queen's New Zealand '85 show.

A once in a lifetime!!!

And the tour ended in new Zealand too, it is a nice happenstance.

Even if Adam were unanimously "the best male singer in the world", it doesn't make him the 'best singer' for Queen (or any other rock band).

Personally, I'd have had Martel, or Tony Vincent; Vincent was superb vocally in the musical whilst still having to concentrate on choreography, acting, script etc... Given the chance I'm sure he would've shone doing a few stand alone shows with Brian and Roger.

I think Brian's omission of the Paul Rodgers era come down to the fact that he was doing an American interview and the Paul Rodgers project bombed on all fronts in America. At least, in Europe the *tour* was successful. They played to mostly half-empty houses here. The tour with AL has been near-sellout so that's why he's focusing on it as the first real "vindication" since Freddie's death.
