George Michael would have been a disaster ! He could not have coped with the heavy side of Queen's catalogue .[/QUOTE]

And Adam Lambert can???

I WOULD go see QE in the UK if i could!!!

Martel and Lambert shouldn't even be in the same sentence....worlds apart. Martel has talent AL does not possess ...and go ahead, correct me...its MY opinion. I can certainly hear and see. I'm not the only one annoyed by Lambert and the decision to take him on tour instead of Martel. The world loves Queen and will pay to see them no matter who's fronting the band. Otherwise, I doubt Lambert will make any other mark on the world. I do think Martel gains far more respect.

It's probably tricky for Brian and Roger......Martel could and would do absolute credit to the Queen catalogue, and would actually sound very similar to Freddie in places - this is something a lot of people would want to hear in order to, as far as possible, accurately reproduce the music they know and love. It must b tempting to have engaged him for a full set of dates. Equally, if they went for Martel, as a result of him being so 'Freddie-esque', they would invariably be slated by half the fans and a lot of the music press/general public as trying to 'replicate' Freddie and be accused becoming a tribute band to themselves.

Whilst going out in ANY form and playing the 'hits' will lead to some of those accusations anyway, a way to try to keep them to a minimum is to perform with a vocalist that is able to cope with the catalogue but is different enough to avoid too many calls of that ilk. They tried this with Paul Rodgers, and to my mind whislt a brave move, it veered TOO far away from sounding like Queen, and the way Rodgers sang a lot of the tracks took away from their intrinsic magic.

So now they have moved to Adam Lambert, and probably found the right place based on the 'not copying Freddie but singing the songs with the right melody and range' approach.

Sadly there isnt a right or wrong answer, and ultimately they will do what they think they should (or possibly what they think other people think they should?!?)

When you are out of your retarded phase, then, we can talk. At this point, you sound like a brain-washed Glambert who can't put two thoughts together.

......and you sound like someone who can't accept the fact that someone's opinion might be different from your own and have any value whatsoever.

Brain-washed Glambert?? Funny.....

You know, I was actually against the whole idea of the Q&AL thing when I first heard of it...but then I decided to give him a chance....I heard a few of the concerts, went to a show last year, even started checking out some of his solo stuff......I think he's a hell of a singer, perfect man for the job.............actually I wish there was going to be a Q&AL studio album, but who knows about that.........

If you think that sounds like a retarded brainwashed Glambert, well, I guess there's nothing I can do about that!

Like I mentioned before, I didn't get to see Queen back when Freddie was alive, and for reasons discussed on this forum Queen didn't tour America much in the 80's [the age for which I could have actually driven to see the concert].

I would say there are many, many people like me who love Queen, but never got to see them for one reason, or another.

Marc captures the essence of Freddie pretty good, both visually, and vocally. I would go to see Queen with Marc in a second even if it meant driving several hours to get to a near show.

I think the illusion of the old Queen would be pretty damned good.

I can also say that most reasonable people know Marc isn't, nor ever will be Freddie as Freddie was one of a kind, Also, I don't see Marc singing with Queen on tour as being a dishonor to Fred's memory at all.

^ this.

I think one of the reasons they don't play with Marc is that he sounds too much like Freddie to be comfortable with. I wouldn't want to play everyday with a person who remind me of my dead friend. Publicwise and personal wise it's not wise.

Of course for us fans it is a different point of view. We'll chase after whatever illusion of Freddie.
