Now, for my other comment about only a handful of Queen songs having more than synth, piano, drums, bass, vocals and guitar, there's probably under ten songs in total by the band, officially released by the band out of hundreds of songs, performed live and or in studio that come to mind.
Bring Back That Leroy Brown
Fairy Feller's Master Stroke
Good Company
Seaside Rendezvous
Love Of My Life
Teo Torriate (Let Us Cling Together)
One Year Of Love
Surf's Up...School's Out
Killer Queen - tack piano
Misfire - timbales
Death On Two Legs - double bass
'39 - double bass
The Prophet's Song - koto
God Save The Queen - gong
Get Down Make Love - EBow
Who Needs You - maracas, cowbell
Staying Power - horns
Who Wants To Live Forever - strings
And that's just off the top of my head.
Also, a vocoder has been used on 'A Human Body' and 'Machines (or Back To Humans)'.
And a Talk Box on 'Delilah'.
But these are more effects than instruments I guess..

I remember back in time was exciting to get a new album from Brian & Roger.
Some songs are really enjoyable, like C-lebrity (the riff is great), Voodoo, Warboys or Surfs Up. If i'm not mistaken a lot of the writting process was made by Roger and Paul, i wonder why Brian didn't participate more.
What was the point where the society Q+PR broke up? Was while recording or during the Cosmos Tour?

At the time TCR was being written and recorded BM was busy with his studies, he was unable to devote as much time as he wanted to too the project.
The band agreed to call it a day during the South American dates.

Honestly, apart from Call Me - a fifties jam gone wrong, in my opinion - I adore The Cosmos Rocks, and every time I listen to it now, I get a nostalgic feeling since I remember playing the absolute ARSE out of it in 2009. And I loved it since it was new material. And then eleven months after I got Cosmos, Absolute Greatest came along - my head hit the desk.

"Time To Shine" didn't shine bright enough apparently but I disagree.

"Why Queen + Paul Rodgers failed to tour the United States has never been fully explained or talked about by any member of the band that I know of but if you know where an interview exists, lead the way please. "
QPR did a fairly long tour of the USA in the Spring of 2006. I saw them in San Diego, Apr 1, 2006 and thought they were good. I also liked The Cosmos Rocks.

"Some Things That Glitter" surely was a AOR FM Radio single ready to happen? But, alas, ignored by not only the press but by QPR themselves in concert. If a live performance exists with Paul Rodgers at the helm, it's a rare piece to have.

Nope, didn't happen.
Too bad. It's definitely the best track on the album.

It did get some performances by Kerry and Brian! Known as I Loved A Butterfly then...........

Roger had the best four songs on the album: Surf's Up, Small, Cosmos Rocks, and C-lebrity. Brian and Paul's contributions to the album were generally ho-hum. Brian has nothing left in the tank but spin. Editing intros and using fadeouts for Forever is not a new take on old songs.

I still listen to it fairly regularly, especially this time of year.
Time to Shine, Small, Some Things, and Surf's Up are the highlights. Even We Believe has grown on me since I first heard it!

It's not a terrible album, but it's not great either.
I really like Small, Shine, Some things that glitter, Cosmos Rocking, C-Lebrity and I love Surfs Up which I see gets a kicking from some on here, but the basic problem is the album (C-Lebrity apart) lacks the Queen sound, so it's hard to think of it as a Queen album. (And I'm not sure legally it is, what with that little + sign after the name Queen, I'm sure there is more to that than a marketing gimmick, maybe 'Queen +' artist royalties don't get split 4 ways.... just a thought.).
My absolute favourite on the album is the Bonus track Runaway that I bought separately on iTunes. (My first digital download, everything prior was cassette, LP or cd).
The fact that a cover version is the only track that sounds truly joyful in the recording, says a lot.
If it had Been a Brian, Roger and Paul album it might have been seen differently. I like Paul Rodgers, he has done some amazing work, and obviously I like Queen or I wouldn't be here. Live I think it worked well, on the record, it's just a bit flat for me.
If they record with Adam Lambert I think that will have much more of a Queen sound, though if they give Adam too much leeway it may be a bit too poppy and not enough rock.
