I think it's a great album full of energy. Sure, a few of the lyrics on some songs could be better. I only wish they included runaway as a proper album track than just a download, that has to be in my opinion the best song out of the bunch. a real return to hard rock, they just kick-ass on that one.

Its a better album than Hot Space and better than the shit that's been released last few years least it was new songs

Some Things That Glitter is the only song that rises above average. TCR is okay but utterly unmemorable, It reminds me of one of the weaker Foreigner albums -- utterly average MOR rawk.
That about sums the album up perfectly, methinks. It's a reality that as musicians get older, they lose most of their ability to write and compose great songs.

I much prefer Paul Rodgers over Adam Lambert with Queen any day of the week.

I agree. I like TCR album so much and still listen to it with joy. The only song that I find weak is the Hendrix cover Vodoo, which I find unnecessary. Some Things That Gliter and Small are great songs IMO. Others are very good stuff as well.
Of course it is not like Queen with Freddie, but how can it be when you don't have Freddie? Personally I prefer to have albums like "Queen + someone" than not to have anything new at all...

Hendrix cover? That'd be "Voodoo Chile".

Personally Ithink its good................I rather like Voodoo actually (NOT a Hendrix cover btw!!! What the...........anyway.........)

Warboys seems to be viewed negatively, but I like that one.................

Most of it just seems like a Paul solo album with Brian and Roger on it, though....................

And that's not a terrible thing!!! I do think a Queen + Adam Lambert album would have more of a 'Queen sound' to it tho.....

I think its as strong as most of the solo albums but weaker than all of the Queen albums. Kind of around the level Id expect from guys 30 odd years past their peak. About 3 or 4 decent/good songs and some other good moments.

Paul Rodgers blues performance with the harmonica was a welcome intro to him and Queen and is one of only a handful of Queen songs, Freddie Mercury era included that features another instrument besides synth, piano, guitar, bass and drums.
A handful?

Harpsichord, ukulele, koto, harp, gong, tympani, horns, strings and sax means there are dozens of songs.

Now, for my other comment about only a handful of Queen songs having more than synth, piano, drums, bass, vocals and guitar, there's probably under ten songs in total by the band, officially released by the band out of hundreds of songs, performed live and or in studio that come to mind.

Bring Back That Leroy Brown
Fairy Feller's Master Stroke
Good Company
Seaside Rendezvous
Love Of My Life
Teo Torriate (Let Us Cling Together)
One Year Of Love
Surf's Up...School's Out
Killer Queen - tack piano
Misfire - timbales
Death On Two Legs - double bass
'39 - double bass
The Prophet's Song - koto
God Save The Queen - gong
Get Down Make Love - EBow
Who Needs You - maracas, cowbell
Staying Power - horns
Who Wants To Live Forever - strings

And that's just off the top of my head.
