gerry wrote: yes but my valid point here is that Freddies songs got the group to be a household name.
Sure the other 3 guys in the band had hits much later on in there career, but it was Freddie
who put the Queen foundation stamp on the bands career and got the public very interested in them.
Mr Gerry Sir what about another one bites the dust john wrote that and it is Queens most popular songs

Ludwigs: Freddie wrote many Queen songs that kick started the band to fame and fortune, your Queen knowledge is lacking mate.
Look at "Seven seas of Rhye" "Killer Queen" "Bohemian Rhapsody" " Somebody to love" need i go on, Freddie was hardly a man who needed songs written by May & Taylor.
i never googled anything, fact Freddie will always be the main reason many fans around the world latched on to Queen.
I don't think Ludwigs Queen knowledge or musical understanding is lacking in any way.

Your list of great songs wouldn't sound as good as they do without BM, RT and JD's input, both playing and arranging.

If you're in doubt of anyones lack of brilliance or musical genius please explain where the world changing anthems are on Mr Bad Guy. IMO, on his own Freddie was little better than average, he needed the other threes ability, understanding and input to turn the bare bones of most of what he wrote into something special.

sure but none of the guys in Queen were better without the Queen machine behind them were they?
Brian & Rogers solo stuff never took off as much a crafted studio Queen album.
They all needed to come together as unit to belt out something amazing, but what i am saying here is Freddie was such a strong character
a lot of people identified the group Queen because of him.

Exactly. Same applies to Freddie.

Sebastian's reply was really spot on. I suggest you re-read it.

Sebastian wrote:

"Putting band members against each other is absolutely petty and unfair. Having said that, it's a lot of fun n_n

It's obvious that from a chemical perspective, and from a legal perspective, they were each 25%. It's also obvious that from a mathematical perspective, different areas would have different so-called leaders or at least dominant forces.

John was more in charge of finances just like Roger was up front for tour coordination and choosing the album cover; Brian was the one who'd communicate with the outside world the most, especially with the fans - he was the first one ever to address the fan club via a letter, and would be the one who'd go out of his way to make the audience interact on a more personal level than just saying 'de oh.'

Freddie was indeed the dominant force in a number of areas, namely songwriting, producing, arranging, singing (he was both their main lead vocalist and, in the studio, their main backing vocalist) and he was, and still is, the focal point for the majority of viewers/listeners."

Mercurymans12: Sure "Another one bites the dust" is a popular song but you really think Queen would have been together in 1980
if Freddie had not got the band popular with his earlier songs that he wrote?
Freddie wrote most of there 70s hits.

I personally never cared about Get Down Make Love, not even the live version. And also Sheer Heart Attack.

Brian revealed in the Days of Our Lives dvd that, whilst Freddie wrote the intro piano riff to Seven Seas of Rhye and the lyrics, Brian wrote large chunks of the rest of it. Just thought I'd throw that in there as it complicates some arguments when trying to argue for a song based purely on who wrote it (or who you THINK wrote it).

Careful Get Down Make Love is a Freddie composition. . . . .

I think She Makes Me is the most boring Queen song.By the way I also believe that Sheer Heart Attack was overrated and Queen and Queen II are much better albums.

There is absolutely no need for that. Your tone in the above post says more than you would like to reveal about your character and state of mind
