So, did they use the 2011 remasters or not?

As Nitroboy says, yes they did.
The credits on each LP reflect this.

If it was intentional, why would the "effect" be different on every copy?

I couldn't tell you if my life depended on it.
You'll have to ask Gary

Was the "effect" announced anywhere before the item was released, or is it nothing more than a lie to cover up the dodgy material QP was too cheap to replace?

Nope. Every mockup (Video etc...) including the picture that features on the back of the box, shows a uniformly coloured record just like all the others. So this suggestion that it was intentional doesn't stand up to any real logical scrutiny. Why make 17LPs uniform, then one with a random melting effect. Makes no sense.

It's a mistake.
What he said!
The colour blatantly hasn't mixed properly with the vinyl, hence the patterning.
'Contains 5 hit singles?' Eh?

Also, you think they'd actually do a better job on the voiceover IE not record it on a dictophone and get someone who can actually talk properly.

Thanks.

Another missed opportunity.

Can you post some pictures?
I'm sorry but I have already returned to amazon
I have several loud distortions on side B of ANATO. Especially in the last second of Love of my Life, a huge rasping noise.

Anybody else?

It could be Paul Rodgers.

In today's world remakes are the rule. Paul Rodgers making background voices are the best. With Adam Lambert playing the amplifier.
