Is anyone going to do their own cover art and replace the ghastly original? Much like backing your text books at school!

Well I managed to get the DVD a day early due to my friend working at a record store. So here is my review:
The concert itself is great. The picture quality is the same as always. But the sound is better than ever.
Now for the documentary...very well executed. A few laughs in there too. There is a little bit of the soundcheck audio there. Freddie talks about where Bob Harris will do his introduction, and there's a small bit of Bo Rhap where Brian does a guitar solo at the BEGINNING of the song. Although Bob's intro isn't on the main feature. You can see it in full in the doc. No one talks over it. There is also a little bit of Hyde Park footage at the end. Makes me hopefully for the next release.
As for Japan 75...same as the Days of Our Lives Japanese bonus footage.[/QUOTE]
The little bit of soundcheck is the same track (Now I'm here) or another song?

I would say Odeon sounds about as good as Rainbow but definitely looks better. I also liked the menu design. Disappointed that we were still stuck with the awful cover art after seeing a different image on Best Buy web site. also of note, the Japan 75 footage looks and sounds pretty dreadful.

Woah, they really give Brain hell over on the steve hoffman forum. Does he really have the last word whether it comes to the sound of the mix, using of the autotune etc. ?

I didn't think it was possible but the negativity about this release on the Hoffman Forums is far worse than this site.

If you heard the recent BBC Radio 2 documentary on Bo Rhap, you'll realise a lot of the soundbites were taken from the interviews used in the bonus documentary.

This hints maybe why QP only put's three songs on this release. They just dont have the mastertapes anymore. As they didn't have from Milton Keynes, Montreal and Budapest. So no new shots or so. Just an uncut 40 year old VHS quality tape that they transferred to DVD from the japanese TV, with some extra shots here and there from other songs but not complete.

I don't know much technical terminology but I listed to A Night at the Odeon on a free streaming service today and immediately determined not to buy it. It does not sound right to my ears. Queen's live sound at that time was always a bit thin (Brian playing single notes against the bass and drum). This product seems to have some kind of effect on the guitar that doesn't ring true in an attempt to make it sound fuller.
Also, with the exception of the inclusion of Bohemian Rhapsody and the Black Queen snippet, the set list is too similar to Rainbow 74 (November) - combine that with the songs that weren't performed (Flick of the Wrist and Sweet Lady) it's not something I need to own and blast from my stereo.
I won't be buy the Blu Ray, either. I own a good quality bootleg DVD of the show but haven't watched it in years. The filming (camera angles) and editing pale in comparison to Rainbow 74 November video.
Looking forward to finally seeing Hyde Park '76 sometime next year!

Looks decent, sounds decent, an improvement over anything previous in my opinion. However, why oh why did they decide not to include the Bob Harris intro??? Absolutely baffled by that.

Just a thought I had... Most Queen fans are in there 40's, 50's and 60's no one is getting younger.. So with that wouldn't they want to releases everything or most of these Queen gems now or in the next 5 years? So people who actually saw Queen from the beginning can actually see and hear all this material that is locked up In the vault? By the way I'm 20 and I'm absolutely obsessed with Queen but I want to know aswell how many newer generation die hard Queen fans are there like me That QPL would actually release this stuff in let's say 30 years? Probably not as much as original from the beginning Queen fans! The martial like Unreleased songs/demos, concerts need to come out ASAP!

Let's hope that QPL put more effort in Hyde Park because it is seriously a very important concert for the Queen fans! And speaking of other concerts.. Knebworth needs to be released.. It is the very LAST QUEEN SHOW! QPL needs to realize that this is something they need to release weather they like the thought or not! And if that ever does come out.. It needs to be one hell of a Live album/DVD!

Looks like they've done a pretty good job at removing the credits that originally rolled over the video towards the end of Jailhouse Rock.

Questions:
How is it possible that they fixed John's out of tune bass on See What A Fool I've Been?
And i dont think Freddie's vocals sound natural all the way through the record, too much reverb.

What about the Dynamic Range of the 24/96 audio track included on both Blu-ray and DVD ? The database only has the audio cd version and according to it... the dynamic range sucks (http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/98353) :((((

Hey, DR8 is great for nowadays! It's not brickwalled at all as was Rainbow November 1974 gig.
