The audio: A++

I honestly was working on something that sounded very similar to what you've done but yours is a but tighter sounding.I would have liked it if the audience noise had been raised a bit more, other than that it's the best I've ever heard.

The video: A

I'm enjoying the true blacks and its nice to have the video without those skips every 5 minutes, but the graininess is honestly distracting and makes fine details look blockey.

Great sound but I added a boost on the 30hz, and 60 hz level just a tick more on my file, just wasn't getting any kick or thump in that range in my earphones. But great overall sound good job!

Well, that part isn't really possible since we just have a mono soundtrack that we're working with, and there weren't any mics on the audience since this wasn't intended to be a live album. It's just the drum/guitar/vocal mics picking up the audience.

To DJGreg - mighty well done !! This post should've come out with much larger fanfare, as it's a huge improvement. To me it sounds like you've added some compression and reverb, widened the stereo, and possibly EQ'd it a bit.

I'm going to post this on Dime, if that's alright. People will love it there. Can you tell us exactly what you did? The audiophiles there are definitely keen on this stuff.

I also notice you've done some hiss reduction, and there are some noticeable digital artifacts in the quieter moments like My Melancholy Blues and Freddie's vocal solo after White Man. Curious to hear what it'd sound like without this done to it. I didn't think the tape hiss was overly bad.

Well the version I had made, I had used a compression setting that raised background noise, primarily the audience noise. It also raised the hiss but it wasn't so bad. I honestly would be fine with fake crowd noise if it was mixed very low.

Thanks for this!
Very nice sound quailty. I like that I almost don't hear the audience. Is the echo added? Or how it was recorded?

It's the same mono video soundtrack as we've always had. He just added reverb and compression.

It's definitely not echo, which is distinctly different from reverb. Echo is like Brian's guitar solo where you hear the same sound again, whereas reverb "reverberates" for a bit longer and dissipates.

This is my revision of the famous Houston concert.

The first idea was to re-edit the original mono sound for myself so I could listen my favourite songs without blood in my ears, but later all the process transformed into mania of restoring the whole video+audio concert thoroughly.

Have you considered doing the same with the Earls Court audio? It'd be a fab addition to the collection.

If so, then just be sure you've got the best version. There are plenty.

So I have finally noticed there's a link in the first post :-)
Thank you very much ! The video isn't that good, but the audio is simply brilliant! I agree with TRW, if you could play with things like Earls Court, or any other video based recordings, it would be great.

Not too bad ! But you don't have the best possible source recording to begin with. I'll post it tomorrow.

I initially didn't download this because I thought it was yet another version of a very well-known recording.
Boy, I was wrong!

This is just tremendous! What you did to this recording is nothing short of astounding... In this quality it could easily be released officially!

Thank you so much for making a great recording from my favourite era even much much better.

And folks, imagine our friend working on those raw soundboards from all those classic concerts they supposedly have in the archives ....

I was away from QZ for almost two months, and when i came back and downloaded this i was very impressed that people were jumping on this topic like crazy.
In a way i thought that maybe i missed something and people already owned a version of this in this quality or superior.

The first time i heard this i instatntly recognized this share as a classic. It sounds like an official release. It´s just beautiful to listen to this concert in this quality. "Love of my life" sounds superb!

When i´m watching a live video of Queen, the audio is what really does it for me. I can live with a not perfect video with a perfect audio, but i simply cannot watch a good video with bad audio, that being one of the reasons i don´t watch the Hyde Park`76 gig.

So, if you´re reading this post just grab what DJGreg uploaded because unless QP releases this gig, this is going to become a classic among Queen fans.

I dunno about you guys but I'd love to hear what he could do with 1981/02/28

I think every unofficial soundboard recording needs reverb effect. Some months ago I was experimenting with echo effect, but it wasn't as good as reverb.
