It's being treated in Britain like the death of a member of the royal family, and rightly so. One of the things about his music is how fresh it all sounds. Early 1970s records sound like they could've been recorded yesterday. His early '70s output was amazing, Listen again to Space Oddity, a deceptively simple song, but there's so much going on there. It's really depressing being in my late forties because so many of my musical heroes are passing away ...

Here's the full Hunky Dory album for any Qzoners who think music starts and ends with Queen.

David Bowie RIP :(

The only person who had enough balls to put a hand on Bri`s RedSpecial Fretboard while Bri still was playing. Simply suggesting him to choose different chords :)
Oh Boy, if black looks could kill :)

He also told Roger that he`s playing a wrong beat for UP...according to Mack, Rog`s head went red immediately...

Oh, the irony - he actually turned down a knighthood.

But indeed, it's amazing to see how highly he was respected, by people in such a wide variety of genres of music.

Hard to imagine, in 20 years they'll almost all be gone.

Thinking who is left that we class as a 'rock star' after the last couple of weeks with Lemmy And Bowie going.
Suppose it's the likes of Robert Plant, Daltrey, Iggy maybe?

Poor Roger, he's just lost his biggest hero and a very close friend. Other than the death of Freddie and his (Rog's) family members, I imagine this is the very worst day of his life.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

I really hope there will be a tribute concert at Wembley on par with the send off Freddie had, lord knows DB deserves one. I'll be there if it happens. Have watched "Lazarus" a few times today It's his Days Of Our Lives, quite beautiful, brilliant and sad.

Indeed. This feels like the beginning of it - many musicians of the 60s and 70s have died, but Bowie is the first to really feel close to home for me. I wasn't alive for Freddie's death, and wasn't old enough to register George Harrison's.
