One of Elvis Presley's first post army movies (Flaming Star) was originally to be called Black Star because, according to the plot and I'm guessing folklore) when Native Americans are about to die they see a black star calling them. I wonder if the name of Bowie's album was influenced by this? The folklore as opposed to Elvis's movie.Pretty cool if it was.

Very interesting. And I just read that "black star" is the name for a certain type of cancer... I wouldn't be surprised if Bowie had been aware of those meanings when he chose the title of his album...
