I picked up Blackstar on vinyl the day it came out because it's amazing and beautifully dark. Going to be playing it constantly for a little while; those songs just got so many new layers of meaning. It really sounds like death, especially the title track.

A true genius. He kept on surprising us until the very end...

couldn't believe it when i saw it this morning... really could not. i initially thought it was a hoax started by him - as a publicity stunt... i thought Lazarus was the setup for the greatest tour ever... fuck was i wrong.
i was in such an optimistic mood on Friday - a great Bowie album that I listened to first chance i got to at the office - listened to it 5 times that day...
at least he got to wrap things up the way he wanted to. and definitely ended it on a high note.
rip starman.

The only person who had enough balls to put a hand on Bri`s RedSpecial Fretboard while Bri still was playing.
According to Brian's recent message, he put his hand on John's Fender P-Bass fretboard while John was still playing.
So, either the late great David was used to doing that to quite a few people, or Mack was misremembering ...again!, or Brian was misremembering ... again!
All three options are quite likely.

I have a feeling Mr Bowie will surprise us again.
I bet he's got some material stored away for release when the death shock has abated.
Something happy and life affirming.
Well, I hope so.

Blackstar is his "parting gift" to fans. I could be wrong but I think that's it.

Thinking who is left that we class as a 'rock star' after the last couple of weeks with Lemmy And Bowie going.
Suppose it's the likes of Robert Plant, Daltrey, Iggy maybe?
Paul McCartney
Eric Clapton
Elton John
Santana
Mick Jagger
and quite a few more
Dylan
Prince
Springsteen
Chuck Berry
Aretha Franklin - maybe not a rock star but true remaining musical legends. Can't agree with the others (Plant, Daltry, Iggy), they dont have the body of work that transcended generations and musical tastes...

I'm surprised nobody mentionned Keith Richards... but maybe that's because he'll never die! ;)

Keith Richards died 17 years ago, what you see now is a pirate zombie.
