Was this one known about until now? I wonder if it was literally some lyrics that got discarded or if it became a full blown song that reached at least demo version but never saw the light of day?

Beat me to the post! I hope one day they do release this demo.. (if there is one) but all that effort in putting it down in pen and paper I'm sure their is somewhat of a demo out there!

Maybe discarded lyrics for one of the songs that made it to the record? Back Chat (Wooly Hat)? Put Out the Fire? (I know, long shot). :D

One of dozens of unheard songs in the vaults, no doubt.

Hi, why would a Freddie ballade about love, be discaeded lyrics for Back Chat or Put Out the Fire? Maybe it got reworked into one of the Mr Bad Guy songs??

Yes, it`s new to me. But it fits with my vaguely belives about unreleased tracks.
Recently I came across to a short RT interview snippet ( March 84`), where he mentioned that Freddie is still working on his compilation of Soul Sounds, Ballads and Rockabilly stuff.

sounds like an upbeat "hound dog" clap and stomp classic r&b proto rock style song... that'd make sense with Munich 's statement above.
I can picture a rhythm for the verse.
no idea bout the rest.
could be incredibly wrong. ... but it goes to show that there's gotta be other stuff out there.
so sad some fans may NEVER hear it.
especially after all those years of believing QUEEN would put out something to rival the Beatles anthology
(*in terms of new cuts I think they did better with MIH... I don't understand the QZ hatred for the album)

What's really sad and tragic about that is that QPL may never release this stuff until both Brian & Roger (and maybe Beach) have died, by which time, a lot of the orginal fans who supported Queen from day one and helped to pay their mortgages and lifestyle, will also be dead, essentially leaving the archives to newer fans who weren't even born until after "Queen" ended, maybe even decades after :(

Thing is, if they didn't release it, they probably thought it was shit. It's an understandable urge as fans to want to have a more complete knowledge of the artist's work. But the fact is that any unreleased stuff which might come out in future still wouldn't truly be part of the Queen canon - the selection of albums and live recordings that they intended to be viewed as their body of work - for the reason that the vast majority of it wouldn't be up to the standard of all the material they chose to record and release back in the day.
As hardcore fans we can make that distinction and appreciate discarded stuff for what it offers us in terms of the band's development as writers etc. But they also have a larger consumer base to please, and unless they can work an unreleased song up to the standard of Let Me In Your Heart Again, they're unlikely to think of it as something that ought to be heard by the general public.
From the artist's point of view... I imagine Brian, Roger, and John stand by their decisions re: what to put out and what to discard. To lose that control, along with any sense of a refined and carefully chosen catalogue, would be pretty distressing as an artist.

A track deemed too poor for Hot Space must be truly, utterly horrific.

Really don't see all the Hate for Hot Space. It's one of my favourite Albums!

I agree. When I'm into it, I love it. Like Bowie's Lodger - a connoisseur's choice.

cant we write some sort of petition for brian, roger and jim to see reguarding the release of archive stuff in its formal glory? i have a feeling i will die before they ever get released!!!
