Rather liked it, definately channeling his Bowie, and good to see he still gets his Mrs in the Vids...ha, liked looking at the guitars actually, and maybe the journey was his, so that's why they are there
Bingo. It's a video version of his life as he has felt it internally - and the music section is only a small bit of it. It shows his depth.

Clearly he was influenced by Blackstar. Maybe this is the end of the line for him creatively, and if so, what a great way to go out - this is easily the best thing he has done in 20 years. He's current and relevant. As much as I liked Electric Fire, this is best piece of art since Foreign Sand, or even Days Of Our Lives.

Love it. I doubt it'll lead to a full solo album, but this is beautiful.
He's clued in - the album is dead, so just release what you want when you want. It looks really good on him.

I have become wary of Queen members suddenly releasing songs with retrospective lyrics. I get the comparison with Bowie's Black Star, but I also remember what happened three days later. This does not bode well.
Nah, I'm sure he's OK - they've booked a tour and all.

It's probably just a state of the union. He knows he's well into his descendency, but I'm sure there's more to come.

I agree. They wouldn't book a tour if he wasn't ok.

Anyone else notice the text in the person's eye @ 3:14?

It says "blind", on the lyric "fly into tomorrow", and it's even blurred out a bit - implying human fallibility and uncertainty while taking that next step.

And 3:14. Pi. Circle. The circle symbolizes infinity, encompassing all possibilities. This time stamp is not a coincidence.

And "fly straight" @ 5:25 while showing a curved road - it symbolizes optimism along with the acceptance in old age that things just aren't as straight forward as we'd like them to be.

This is not "same old Roger" - this is art at its finest and purest. A massive step forward for him creatively.

Queen played the Isle Of Wight festival last year. Brian was still alive on September 19th. Your point is pointless!
Whenever something worthwhile happens in the world of Queen and I get tempted to become a regular poster again, someone always steps up to remind me why I really shouldn't. Thank you for that.

Hmmm. Yes, you can tell this is a post-Blackstar concept and with the best will in the world, Roger doesn't have the edginess Bowie had so falls a bit flat. Of course, it's great that he's done a 'big' production and I enjoyed it. Would I watch or listen again? Probably not.

I totally disagree.
This is top notch work by Roger.

I've watched it several times in a row and appreciate it more every time I watch it. It has great depth, incredible atmosphere, a deep massage. The film is not a clip but an amazing short film packed with clever things.

We have had much to complain about in recent years but not this one. This is Roger as an artist, thus creating true - and may I say very powerful - art.

Congrats and deep respect and admiration for Rog!

That's what it wants you to think. Which is my point. IMO, of course.

I'm glad Roger doesn't try to replicate some of his finer Queen / solo moments here and instead just follows his own, different path, but the song is not very good. It's not bad, has its moments, but overall a bit disappointing.

... a path which consists of trying to replicate some of the finer Bowie moments :p

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

This piece has caught my attention like very few of the recent solo and even band releases. I like it more after every 'spin' I give it.

Cheers,

Nice song and video. I much more interested in de release of thing song en the meaning behind it.

Is this a pre-message saying goodbye to rocker life. So last time with Queen and making music himself????

I think to fully appreciate it you have to be a little older than a teenager and maybe have lost a few friends before their time along the way, reflective and beautiful writing, if you think it's boring it's probably escaping you, which is fine, but one day you may realise what was going through his mind at the time, he was clearly very affected by the loss of Bowie, and lets face it 2016 massive loss of artists of his generation. What I love about this is is shows he doesnt have to write in one style to make something that ticks the boxes.
This track shows what his contribution to Queen was, not just Fun it and Sheer Heart Attack he was capable of so much more, maybe more variation then Freddie?

Fireplace, I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you. A dry sense of humour doesn't always translate well in short posts.

As has been pointed out in this thread I don't think there is anything to worry about with Roger's health or at least not in the same way as Bowie. The tour was planned and announced and put on sale and added to during if not before this track/film was produced.

Your comment was as valid as anyone else's on the sudject and I really didn't mean to belittle you or your views.
