All right, he doesn't have to respect them,he doesn't have to like how Brian plays the guitar or Queen music.
But he doesn't have to use such words, he could say it all in a little better way.

Alan McGee definitely is a Queen fan and has written articles about Freddie.
Noel , I remember him slating either Blur or Suede saying their record was worse "than the worst Queen album" So cannot imagine him to be a fan.

I've always despised them, even back in the 90s. I could never stand Liam's whiny, droning voice either.
They've always come across as thuggish and arrogant. Liam in particular has always come over as thick. The kind of people I wouldn't want anywhere me in real life. They've boasted about being thieves / about stealing lawn mowers so they could sell them and buy drugs before they got famous, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. They're scummy fuckers. I'm far from alone when it comes to my dislike of them too. If you can't see Liam for the moron he is and that kind of mindset appeals to you, then you're probably a bit thick yourself.
I recall the way Noel insulted Micheal Hutchence at the Brit awards in '96. Hutchence was clearly happy to present an award to Oasis, and they came on stage and Noel said "Has-beens should not be presenting awards to gonna-be's"... Hutchence walked off stage, and apparently that made matters worse for him when it came to his depression. All in all it was totally unjustified.
Peter Kay nailed it at the 2010 brit awards after Liam threw his microphone into the crowd (see video)....

I'm also glad George Harrison slated them, considering they were a poor Beatles wannabe band. They must've hated that.

You can be a fan and rate one (or more) of their albums as quite poor. I certainly do - as much as I admire all four Queen members, I think some of their songs (e.g. 'Delilah') were frankly horrendous; same for, say, The Beatles and 'Yellow Submarine' (it's not horrendous per se, but I hate it) or the Bee Gees and 'You Should Be Dancing' (never liked it).
By the way, there's absolutely no reason why 'A' cannot criticise 'B' unless 'A' has achieved more than 'B' (or is more talented, etc.). You can agree with Liam (I don't) but the best course of action if something he did or said offends you is to ignore it. The fact people (myself included) have bothered to read this thread and take part of it is just a way of giving him (and his quote) far more power than he (and it) should have.

Liam's new album is "ok". And he at least has a new album to please his fans.
While our "band" releases one incomplete Best-Of-Box-Set- Coloured-Vinyl-shit after another. And tours with that awful pale contest singer.
And, to be honest: Brian's guitar playing is only a far memory. He's a relic. Since 20 years he only plays the same slow and
boring orchestral licks. Brian isn't relevant in these times anymore.
Just be honest with yourself instead of lying to yourself.

What a stupid post. It is about the music, you have just been suckered by the image they have chosen to portray. As for equating what Noel said at the Brits contributing to MH's suicide... are you fucking serious?

What a stupid reply. I already addressed the music - I can't stand Liam's whiny, droning voice.
As for the shitty image. You seem to think it's ALL an act, but no. They might play it up (Liam pretends he's a hard man, but gets beaten up), but they're still scummy fuckers (particularly Liam), and it's still a shitty act regardless. There's no hiding that thug like, thick as shit mentality, no matter how much you want to excuse it as just an act. I have no reason to excuse it. Anyone with a brain in their head only has to see Liam in an interview to realise he's a fucking moron.
As for what I wrote > "apparently that made matters worse for him when it came to his depression".
Yes, I'm serious. Why wouldn't I be? I didn't mention his suicide, I mentioned his depression.
I think we all know by now Hutchence was in a bad state of mind at that period of his life. And it's been talked about on docs (and no doubt written about too), how it hurt him and made things worse.
it was a shitty thing for the Gallagher twat to do. Like I said, totally unjustified.
My dislike of them has nothing to do with what's been said about Queen either. Like I say, I couldn't stand them back in the 90s.
They played at the Venue in New Cross while I was there just before they made it big...
Just Googled this...

It didn't cost any extra to get in that night. I used to go there almost every Friday or Saturday at that point regardless of who played. I didn't rate them back them, and I still don't now.

I agree, but his image is one of an obnoxious twat, and his statement confirms that. If it's about the music, say what it is about the music that is true. If it's his "guitar sounds" what is it? It's too thin, his playing is repressed, it's overblown by his harmonies? He doesn't have an answer so he makes a broad statement contrived to get press. If he were a website that statement would be ridiculed as clickbait.

How is what I said stupid, which part? I've already explained how it's not.

Sorry Day dop, I was quoting for the music part for Mooghead's reply, I meant to ask Mooghead what about the music did he indicate made any sense other than offer a cheap shot at Brian.

Don't understand the question.
Sheer Brass Neck · Member since
If you are suggesting (I may be wrong here) that Liam's comment was about the music, and I know you aren't supposed to answer this what does he mean that Brian's guitar sounds like it's clogged up his ass? There is zero validity to that statement. If he said I hate Queen, hate their guitarist, hate the way he plays I'd get it. But if it is about the music or sound then what is it? Because to me, he made another of his career long "Liam being abrasive" quotes that people and the press love to talk about, as we are here, but his statement is an opinion with no credibility. Sounds like he needed some press and slagged Brian, but it's lazy and ill informed.

To be fair. ...in the Showtime George Michael documentary FREEDOM; liam comes across as an old buggered ape.
I think they've consciously put him in n there for the chav scumbag generation.
Though it's not evidence of cerebral intelligence, his interactions seem surprising to himself. As if he's shocked he could come up with words.
Anyways. Never thought much of oasis.
Living off of two albums and some exaggerated significance isn't rock and roll. It's has beening
