I'd like to ask you a couple of questions. You have no obligation to answer.
Why doesn't AL play up the camp side with Brian and Roger, and not with his own stuff? Is he wary about camping things up in his solo music? Does he have more freedom with Brian and Roger?
Freddie was who he was, and I can safely say this, without Freddie and Queen breaking down barriers,AL would not be where he is today. Many people paved the way for AL.
Adam would agree with that about Freddie, he says he's inspired by people like Freddie, David Bowie etc who were androgynous, camp, theatrical. I don't think he's afraid to go camp with his solo stuff I just think he changed styles a bit, especially on the third album/tour. He does do bits that are camp with his solo stuff, but he's dropped a lot of the over the top costumes and make up from the glam nation era.
These two clips from interviews explain his thoughts about why he does that more with Queen.

I will watch those videos later today sometime.
In many ways I think AL wore his influences on his sleeve a tad too much. Take the FYE album cover, that was very glam rock. His other two album covers were very George Michael ish. I have known who is influences were for some time now. The music was a bit all over the place in a way, and honestly the genre I think that suits him is the pop/EDM vibe. I think he can pull off the look of glam rock, but could he sound like it with his solo music? I'd be interested to find out if he ends up trying for the glam rock sound. If he does that, I hope it won't be as tacky as I feel The Darkness is with their sound, look and vibe. Sorry Rufus :P.
I have to admit he has come a long way in improving since Q+AL started. I remember hearing and watching him do a fantastic version of TYMD...dang, if only I could remember what show it was from. I will always feel Save Me is the best I usually heard him sing a Queen song. He did that very, very well. Seriously, it surprised the f**k out of me I thought it was that good. Another reason I think it's a shame some songs were dropped from the last tours.
I will watch those videos later today, it's after 4 am here. Sleep for me soon, I hope LOL.
Thanks for answering my questions, I appreciate it.
No probs. Yeah I absolutely loved him doing Save Me, one of my fav's from him, really wish they were still doing it in the current tour. He's fine doing pop/EDM, just not my preference. To be honest he's the only pop singer I listen to, just because I love his voice. not my type of music otherwise which is why I'd love him to go in a different direction. I'd love an album of covers but he'll never do it, stuff like Come Home, I Can't Make You Love Me, Stay etc. I know they're on YouTube but apart from Stay, sound quality is awful. I'd really love to hear him do Different Corner, wish he'd done that instead of Faith for the GM tribute. I've heard a few TYMD one's, would love to know which one it was if you ever remember.
Nothing is static, you can't replace people with replica's but there's nothing wrong with moving on and accepting things as they are now. Musician's can't just stop playing when a band member dies or leaves, it's a passion for them, not just a job.
happystar Brian Johnson replaced Bon Scott in AC/DC when he died. Unlike some "Queen fans" the AC/DC supporters were actually open minded enough to understand that the new guy was there to help the band continue in the sprit of what had come before. .
Axl Rose joining them is old news, they've toured with him and sold out stadiums worldwide, and he did a great job, they also replace Malchom Young when he became to ill to carry on playing, and again their fans accepted the change and moved on. . . . And enjoyed the shows that followed!!

Vocal Harmony : Not according to some readers and journalists at classic rock magazine for they despise Axl Rose fronting AC/DC. I never actually followed the band because lets face it Brian Johnson could not. sing for toffee and Bon Scott was the only one who gave the band ambience. You cannot compare Queen to AC/DC as far as singers are concerned for Queens Freddie was a hell of a singer something which AC/DC cannot match. That is why many many Queen fans hated the Queen+ combinations. Freddie is just irreplacable and the two remaining members should have gone solo and saved the embarrassment later on in life!
Holy shit it was you who brought the subject of AC/DC up. Now you're saying you didn't follow them!
As for your comment that Brian Johnson can't sing. . . . enough said
Brian and Roger are not embarassed. They are as happy as clams and their faces hurt from non-stop smiling during these shows!
Ha! Ha! Brian and Roger (and Adam) are laughing all the way to the bank! BTW Adam is not a novice! He just turned 36 and has been singing and entertaining in live stage shows since age 10, including 4 worldwide solo tours and 3 worldwide QAL tours! He knows his way around a lot better than some of those million dollar album selling artists.

I hear that AC/DC fans are outraged as Axl Rose is lined up to front there band, so once again here we have the scenario of a great band that is about to get destroyed just like Queen have with Adam Lambert. Axl Rose does not fit AC/DC and they will end up sounding like a tribute band. All these great bands seem to replace band members and they just do not seem the same ever again!
I would say I'm an AC/DC and GnR fan. I know of was surprised when Axl sang the AC/DC songs. I find it strange honestly. But I'm not outraged.
Yes, Adam needs his own career and he has more talent in his little finger than some have in their whole bodies so I think he will be just fine!

Only fine?
Face it, many other artists are more popular, sell more than AL, without those artists riding on Brian's and Roger's coattails. That's a fact. AL would not be where he is currently without singing the Queen songs.
I really hope this isn't the end of live shows for Brian and Roger, even if they may choose to stop touring, I hope there will be more live stuff. Brian is very invested in Kerry.
Again, once Q+AL is over...that's the test for Adam. His music, his shows, whatever he does will be on him and his PTB.
Lambert made money out of Freddie!
No he made money out of fronting a band, singing songs that all four members wrote. This isn't all about Freddie and your dislike of Adam Lambert
Adam didn’t make money from Freddie and Queen by osmosis. He does his part to earn it and even though he makes it look easy, he wouldn’t be doing it if he didn’t more than qualify.
happystar, you are entitled to your strong opinion but the thousands of cheering people in the audience, including diehard Freddie fans, would disagree!
I’m not as radical a Freddie fan as some here but I certainly recognize him as the best rock singer/composer/entertainer of all time. But he is not here and Adam IS here and doing a heckuva job fronting the band. IMO the guy who doesn’t get enough credit is Spike! Without HIM there would definitely be no show!

Do you think those cheers might just be for Brian and Roger even more than AL?
No, I wouldn't even say you are a Freddie fan. AL fan only, I guess.
Hey, if you makes you feel better by saying Freddie is no longer here, go ahead. I think we all know Freddie is no longer here. His legacy is living on for the past 25 + years, and it was before all the Q + stuff.
That's a heck of a legacy for Freddie and Queen.
The bottom line is Brian and Roger have wanted to tour with Adam no matter what you think and THEY are satisfied that their audiences are accepting Adam and having a good time! They would have stopped a long time ago otherwise. It has been SIX YEARS so it’s past time for the naysayers who have never attended one of these magnificent shows to stop pretending that they know best. They don’t!
