Thistleboy Mary Austin should have let the film crew use Garden Lodge as i am sure Freddie would have been flattered that a film about his musical career was been made. Mary always gave me the impression that she was spiteful and ungrateful for he fortune Freddie left her not to mention when she kicked Freddie's staff out of the house and Jim Hutton but that is another story.
She is not a popular woman on facebook i can tell you.

Freddie's kind heart and generosity.[/QUOTE]

Or maybe, just maybe Freddie felt guilty for getting a woman's hopes up with marriage while at the same time cheating on her nightly with men and the 'generosity' came from a place of guilt?
He wasn't always a nice guy.

Emrabt : Mary knew where she stood with Freddie as he was honest with her and told her he was gay.
More like She used him as any other woman would have walked away but she knew he had money so she tagged along.......
Freddie was not a bad guy quiet the opposite, very shy and extremely generous.
I know people who have met Freddie and they all say he was a lovely gentle king man.
Freddie was so vein that Mary sucked him into a sense of false security and now that bitter woman got most of his fortune.
Jim Hutton was the only true person Freddie found complete happiness and love with.

^ Maybe he just felt that she deserved the lion's share of his estate, being his "soulmate" for most of his adult life. His relationship with Hutton was much more recent and seems to have been less stable. There was a time in the summer of 1990 when they almost split up.

Happystar, do you actually know the history of their (Freddie and Mary's) relationship?
He proposed to her and led her along for a long time before telling her not to buy a wedding dress as he'd 'lost interest', he was cheating on her a long time before she confronted him suspecting another woman and they came to terms with his sexuality.

While they remained very close what he did while he was supposed to be with her WAS horrible and I'd be surprised if there was no guilt on his part for it.

Whitewashing all the bad stuff out of history isn't good, Freddie was human, Freddie was flawed, he wasn't always nice.

Never heard anything about Freddie proposing, i did read lots of times about Mary wanting Freddies baby but he said he would rather have another cat, so with that comment i doubt very much he would have proposed to her. Sheer speculation i guess. Yes Freddie was human but he was honest with her around 1975 and he did tell her he was gay.

Freddie was known for being a very private man. Would he have been flattered? I doubt it. Would he havwe wanted filming in GL? I doubt it.

I couldn't care less what "Facebook" thinks of Mary. The story is well known, and you being the ardent fan still had to have it pointed out to you.

You just open your flaps, don't you?

Well if you've never heard of it I guess it never happened... I guess people are lying....

You are of course the go to source for Freddie information, and much more accurate than people who actually knew the man!

Not only did he propose he also apparently learnt sign language to ask Mary's father for permission...

How and why Mary inherited most of his wealth we will never know. There are a lot of books, interviews, and documentaries, but is everything that's been said to be true? Everyone has a some own point of view and we can have our opinion, why not?

My opinion is that with the help of Queen management and newspapers she had created her role in Freddie's life for the public. Even today she has that role.
Reading Jim's book I came to the conclusion that she had some influence at Freddie when he almost split up with Jim in 1990.
She transmitted Freddie's messages to Jim when they not talking to each other. 1986 also. Freddie told her over the phone to tell Jim to pick up his things and leave Garden Lodge, and she told him that. Real friend would never do it, but would say, "If you have something to tell to your boyfriend tell him in the face, such serious things are not going to this way".
It doesn't have to be every word what Jim said in the book true and, of course, there are many persons who don't believe him but I believe him.
Of course that Freddie wasn't allways nice but Mary wasn't allways nice also. After all, like every human being. Nobody is perfect, nobody is saint. Nothing is allways black or white.

I go back to the subject.
If "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie not include Freddie's life after Live Aid why would be filming at Garden Lodge at all?

If people has the right to give their opinion only about people they know, then topics for talk, including forum topics, will be run out quickly.
None of us for obvious reasons couldn't have known, for example, Leonardo da Vinci but why I wouldn't have some opinion about him?

I don't know why some people are so sensitive with opinions about Mary. Why would everyone must to have a good opinion about her?

Yes you're right of course, but having an opinion based on something tangible is a lot different to spouting something nasty or even hateful.

People post what they think, very little is based on what is known, by them or in general.

I met Mary Austin twice, a long-time ago. She seemed very nice, very focussed and very polite. Anymore than that I couldn't tell you because I don't know.
I'd love to hear how the opinion about her being
bitter etc was formed, especially coming from someone who hasn't met her and has a history of posting insults.

Well let me explain, Have you spoken to Freds staff who got there marching orders after Fred died and even Jim Hutton was treated unfairly by Mary and from what i have read
She was very nasty and bitchy towards the staff, not the sweet little innocent flower many make her out to be.
And a couple of years ago Garden Lodge was a no go area for fans when she stopped fans visiting Freddie's former mansion.

She hasn't stopped people visiting the house, it's in a public street, you can no longer park in the street unless you are a resident but Mary didn't make that rule London council did....
Maybe you should start getting your information from places other than random people on facebook.

If you are talking about going inside the house, The public have never been allowed in, it's not a new thing.

Emrabt It was Mary that made that decision to stop Freddies fans from congregating outside the house. Nothing to do with London council. Nasty hairy Mary.
