It's a curious choice to use 2011 remasters for BR, CLTCL and AOBTD instead of existing surround versions.
They should have taken full advantage of the audio format by mixing as much as possible to surround, at least the tracks revisited specially for the movie.
Maybe they already did that and the CD contains some stereo downimxes of the actual soundtrack.

I guess we'll be getting some DVD rips once the DVD is out.
However for a movie, the music generally remains stereo, the rest of the image filled out with dialogue and background / crowd noise.

Yes, incidental music is stereo, but a movie about music needs a sound design not a stack of tracks. Like the cinematography of a movie about a painter.

Gripe from me about the booklet of the soundtrack CD....
The film primarily focuses on a timeline ending in 1985. Open up the booklet and you’ll see a picture of each band member - John and Brian pics taken from the Magic Tour in 86 (is outsude this period). The Freddie pic is from 85 and not a live pic but a publicity pic or possibly a still from a solo promo video, and the Roger one is from a totally different era band-wise and seems to be around 74/75.
In addition, each pic is pretty uninspired and not very exciting, and due to the points above they just seem ‘thrown in’ and totally randomly selected with no theme or focus.
I’m well aware this will be uninteresting and deemed irrelevant to many, but it frustrates me all the same!

That would make sense yes. But no.

Safe to say this is not the elaborate product it could have been.

Well, sound design alone is nothing without an intelligent production design. I mean a soundtrack played by veteran artists involved in Queen tribute projects, like McAuley, Impellitteri, Kulick, Roth, Phillips, Schellen, LaBrie, Friedman, Franklin, Appice, Adam, Petrucci, Aldridge, Sato, Sherwood, Singer, Shortino, Laurent, Krieger, Kilmister, Nugent, Hughes, Lee, Boals, Malmsteen, Bouillet, Bush, Ian, Throne, Vera, Zander, Thomas, Turner, Tate, Nelson, Blades, Scheff, Winger, Hughes, Shaw, Russel etc.
They are not Queen, and Malek is not Mercury, so the matching could have been perfect.

Yes....kinda disappointed after watching it. I feel I will still absolutely love the movie, but I wish they didn’t use Marc Martel’s voice for the climax of the movie.
I know they don’t have the individual tracks from Live Aid, but still. I’d rather hear a little less clear of a mix than someone who’s not Freddie sing the most iconic set ever.

It is what it is, I’ll still love it I’m sure..

I was more concerned with individual voices they played - girls doing that terrible millennial drawling singing that you get on every Christmas advert these days. They seem to think putting on that voice makes them a singer.
Anyway, the overall effect was nice I thought.

no millennial snowflake gonna know the difference

As I said earlier - I think we'll be getting audio rips from the DVD once it's out as I'm guessing most of the actual soundtrack will be markedly different.

I suspect the movie is at least dolby surround 5.1 stereo: when in the cinema, you expect the audience behind and with you.. and the band playing on stage... or? The audience at live aid sounds imho much clearer on youtube then on dvd.
I expect to be overwhelmed by the sound in the cinema.. or?
