SpaceGrey wrote:What about The Miracle box set: As for the box set: I do not have high hopes that everything will be there that is in the archive for this album.
Remembering what form got the NOTW box set I sure that this album will be released in the same way.
Well of course not. No band ever releases everything. Look at the Purple, Rainbow, Zep and Beatles releases: sure there's loads - but probably not even 25% of what there is. Why would bands release everything? This is only of interest to the absolute completist and a box like that would run to £000s
SpaceGrey wrote:Despite the fact that I liked The Raw Sessions from this box set, I still think it's not enough.
The Miracle is a a good choice for a box - simply because of the wealth/volume of recorded material available. Raw Sessions tend to be used when there's not sufficient to justify a full boxset.

It's hard to argue with your opinion on this matter.
I understand that it makes no sense to ask or be interested in how you see the upcoming box set, since it will still not be what we would like to see and hear, but nevertheless, I’m interested in your opinion.

It's a tough one to guess. Depends on how big and bold they want to go.
I could see either a 4 or 5 disc set. The covers being the individual faces used for the four-headed cover used on discs 2-5
1. Original Recording - remastered 2020.
2. 12" mixes and instrumentals
3. Demos and outtakes of album cuts
4. Unused/unfinished tracks
5. DVD - video shoot bloopers and outtakes / misc recording session filming?

Thank you. Wow. But I doubt that The Miracle will be remastered again since 2011 but who knows.
I would add a CD with raw sessions, as is the case with the News Of The World album.

I found that the remasters sounded great upto and including NOTW.
9 years isn't too short a time for a remaster - especially when you consider that the 2011 remasters did suffer in some places due to compression and loudness.

My issue with the remasters is that they've barely been EQ'd and there's barely any low end and that they're so inconsistent. For instance, Queen II's dynamics are pretty much intact but Innuendo has got from being probably the quietest (and limpest sounding) original CD issue to being the loudest. How does ONE remastering campaign result in completely different mastering styles, when they're apparently all done by the same highly regarded mastering engineer?

and weren't these Bob Ludwig remasters? His remasters are usually great.

I've heard second generation remaster of HITMAN and it brought up levels (individual tonal characteristics) to noticeable but not protruding prominence.
Keys and stuff that was mostly buried in equal threshold bass /perc levels. It sounded like each instrument was given respectful clarity without compromising the entire track

Miracle is a decent album, but it lacked one or two ballads and the production is very late eighties which doesn't age as well. I'm looking forward to the outtakes etc.
As for more remastering, Queen doesn't really need more remasters if you ask me. There's only so much you can with the original mixes. What I would really like are modern remixes like the ones Steve Wilson did for Yes. Then you can finally 'fix' the albums that have dated or muddled production (my first target would be Jazz).
Just listen to The Hero Revisited on the 2011 Flash Gordon bonus EP for an example of what can be done. The difference is night and day.

Future Manager, re:

No, you can't. A turd is a turd, regardless of how hard you polish the fucking thing - if what's on the TAPE isn't great, it'll always be just what's on the tape in a shinier wrapper. Try to get Roger back in to re-record live drums and THEN you may have the start of something.
