That's easily explained. People who overestimate their own intelligence while still thinking everyone else is much dumber than they are, simply because they disagree or disprove their arguments, are very prone to frustration and anger because they can't understand the situation they are in. And also because trying to understand the situation better would risk them having to admit to themselves they were wrong about themselves for a really, really long period of time. It's a bit like losing your religion and the psychological effects that would have on an individual. The religion of yourself with yourself on top in this case.
