>People get depression in spite of anything going on in their lives, it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, love or hate your job etc you can still get depression, it's likely chemical with Brian since he's always been prone to it.
They do, yes, but narcissism in the form of social media broadcasts seems an unlikely method of healing one's self.

What???
There's no law that says that once you've been a rock star you have to keep writing songs til the day you die. People evolve and develop other interests - astronomy, for example. Also, it's worth noting that he's doing what he loves - and why shouldn't he.
How would YOU feel if someone said "Oi! just stop being a Postman, you used to be a Policeman (years ago). I demand you deal with the crime I am reporting to you now!"
FFS. leave the guy alone.

Happy New Year to you.
Hope Anita recovered well from her stint in the sack with old Craig Revell-Horwood; she must have needed a damn good bath after that one, eh!? Yuck. I'm sure Biggins made her a double espresso to get over the initial shock though.
Really sad to see your latest activity on that social media platform that is the absolute fucking bane of the free world. Surely you'll have learned from old Trouser Trump that not everyone needs to know everything about everyone all the time by now. Your fans are your fans and friends and will understand that you find the world a tough place to inhabit whether its plastered all over the internet or not. You are cared for.
Is it any wonder, though, that you are publiscizing your battles with depression when you openly state to anyone that will listen, that you'll be "getting back to normal" by biking, stretching and hot and cold showering?
Normal? Hell's teeth chap. The rest of us are feeding our families by emptying bins, treating cancer patients, teaching children trigonometry, pulling pints, designing world-class sports facilities etc etc, blah, blah, blah. Perhaps, if you sought to fill your early days of recovery from such a stressful Christmas perior with meanningful work you would find more purpose in life and be less prone to depression. Lots of us suffer.
Here's a thing, Brian; you're a world-renowned guitarist and ex-member of one of the biggest bands in history. You have your own guitar. You have your own Deacy amp. You have a home studio. You count many of the world's most talented rock musicians as firends. You have written sngs that have had huge success (and some absolute fucking stinkers).
Why Not Make An Album?
If you're looking for a 2020 resolution, there's a decent place to start, mate.
Forget the planet-saving; Greta's reached many more people in a few short months and in a more constructive manner than you have for over 10 years and I'm sure your lack of success on this front is a contributing factor.
Forget the farmers; you're about as relatable to them as Jezza is to the rank and file "Reds" who deserted him last month; again, a contrbuting factor.
Forget the Q+AL shambles as it must be draining hobbling about on one leg, wearing Metropolis masks and capes, playing the Brighton Rock solo for the 800 billionth time to 12 year olds that haven't got a fucking clue who you are.
Make some new music. Move us with new songs. Create something that is of value and worth to YOU as a guitarist and composer. I'm sure you haven't magically lost the ability to do so if you try.
Best wishes,
dudeofqueen
ps - do us all a favour and stay away from the vocal microphone though, eh?
It must be great being you... What an absolute shitfest that was. You call yourself a fan? Really?
At least he does not mix up "fan" with "Blind follower" like yourself who think Maylor are shitting golden bricks. He is completely spot on! Especially when it comes to the "Hobbling on one leg " part. WAL described in 4 words very precisely
I am a fan, not a blind follower. You do not decide what I am. I do not think that they are shitting golden bricks. I just have to sit back and think why people have to be so bloody rude.

Nothing to do with being a fan or not, is it. Your sad devotion to that curly-haired guitarist has not helped you conjure up the ability to dissect my post, or given you clairvoyance enough to find the cure for Brian's various ills......... No, wait a minute, that's Admiral Motti........ Where am I....... Oh, yes.

Everything was wrong with it.

Surely the original poster is just expressing his wish , in a subjectively humorous format exaggerated for effect , that Brian produces some new music. The forum only exists in the first place as an appreciation of the music he originally helped create.

^that's a positive viewpoint. Hard to blame a guy for resting on his laurels and multitasking while steadily entering his 70's.
Surely, you wouldn't like someone telling you how to live your life , nor Lord over your work like a supervisor
Bad releases? , i get it.
But the touring is enjoyment AND most directly, facing your later years is not an easy task. I'd think it just as polite to say fuck off.
U get older, people pass again, mortality - althoughitwas ALWAYS there - looms and it's not exactly breezy.
If his life and quirks and works bother that much, you really should find another hobby

There's just one problem with all that you just wrote - depression doesn't care if you have a phd, you're a multimillionaire, you have endless amounts of talent and it seriously doesn't care if you are better off in lots of ways than other people so saying fill your days with meaningful things or make an album is pointless when depression has robbed you of your creativity and ability to do much more than drag yourself out of bed. As to forgetting QAL, that bit shows you understand even less about Brian and his depression, he's said many times that touring makes him feel alive and he sinks into depression when he gets off a tour so if he stopped altogether he'd feel even worse.
You have a point but he was always a drama Queen when it comes to illnesses. Did he really write he is "back to normal by taking a shower"??? I wonder how someone with REAL depression feels. Regarding QAL I think I would become depressed if I heard a goat destroying classics on a nightly basis on tour. He should try to get rid of this problem first.

No he didn't write it quite like that, he wrote this:-
"Well, that’s my brave face. Most of this Christmas period I haven’t wanted to show my face because my face was grim. There’s something about this time of the year that paralyses me. Depression, hopelessness, fear ... I get engulfed. Is it logical ? No. Should I be grateful for my life and therefore NOT depressed ? Yes. But none of that makes any difference when you look up and the colours have gone out of the world. Tomorrow I am wrenching myself back into ‘normality’ - starting with some biking and stretching and hot and cold showering".
The normality part was in quotes and obviously ironic which makes the meaning very different.
As to QAL we know how you feel about it but the fact people are clamouring for them everywhere means there's plenty who feel very differently and Brian clearly loves the touring even when he admits it's hard work physically now. Imagine how it would feel being in his position and having hordes of people all wanting you to come back everywhere you play and constantly posting comments saying they can't wait to see you again and when are you coming to (wherever), hard to give that up I would think and not just from an ego point of view but the fact you want to please the fans who want to see you.
