At the end of the day there is zero evidence that the cameraman did anything illegal, unlike Brian who clearly broke the law by taking the law into his own hands.

Once again accept it and move on. You can rationalise away that which cannot be rationalised away.

@vocal harmony I'm not lashing out at anybody, but Brian's behaviour hasn't sat well with me for quite some time now and I'd like the fans to unite in expressing our disapproval of his behaviour and the general direction in which he has been steering the band legacy.

But it won't've happended if the cameraman stopped filming. He was warned about the consequences. Once again accept it and move on.

Young music fan, that is not an excuse in the eyes of the law. The cameraman was not doing anything illegal. Brian broke the law by taking the law into his own hands.

The incident also never would have happened if Brian had got back in his car and drove away, or invited to meet the fans back at his hotel. Brian doesn't own the world and can't order everybody around him to do as he pleases and to act according to what is convenient for Brian at all times. It doesn't work that way.

you still don't get it. the second that someone is asked to stop filming, then permission has been withdrawn. at that point it is no longer allowable to directly film the individual who asked you to stop.

is obtained from the council, not from Brian. This is a public place, not Brian's house. If Brian has an issue with being filmed he can cover his face or get in his car and drive away.

Besides, at the time of the assault the camera guy was filming on his personal phone, and a permit is NEVER required to do that.

and the rules on filming an individual are quite clear:
permission is assumed unless the individual says NO.

Brian said no, so at that point anyone else in the vicinity can be filmed but not Brian. cameraman continued to film Brian - against his wishes - he broke the law by going against the individual's express wish.

which is why he didn't press charges.
