Has anybody else heard the rumours that The Darkness are going to release a cover version of Somebody to Love? I hope they aren't true - that's one of my favourite songs and I really don't think The Darkness could do it anywhere near justice.

Why not?

Still better than an other fucking popstar remake...like the pepsi advert.

God... I hope not. I don't want that song to be thought of as a joke.

I mean..The Darkness? Do they think that they can just wear funny trousers and long hair that they can be as good as Queen? They are just Queen without the musical talent, the song writing genius, the absolute dedication to the music and the powerful vocal performances. Kids like them because they think their style is new and interesting, but it's all been done before in the 70's/80's about a thousand times better. =/

No. That's a bad idea.

I'd like to hear that cover. Maybe it's because I can't stand STL, but I think the Darkness could do something interesting with it.

i hope so :|
if they do a good work i could change my idea about them, at the moment i'm quite indifferent to their music.
anyway it's better to cover Queen than other bands...Queen are the best!

"I have yet the chance to actually hear something by The Darkness"

You are missing out. They don't sound anything like Queen though.

Oh God, please stop copying Queen.

Geez, I respect 'The Darkness' and I think it's cool that they're bringing back a sound we haven't heard for over 20 years, but these guys should at least dare to do something original and not copying stuff that Queen or other rock bands have done before. I dunno about you guys but all those 70s and 80s rock cliches are getting already boring by now. Besides, Queen didn't become so great by copying Hendrix. Sure there was the influence, but as Freddie said once Queen is too great to copy other bands.

Not really sure how you can't stand SLT Dragon. It is one of the best songs Freddie ever wrote. And by the end of the 70's was a stellar moment in any Queen concert. THe M K show form 1982 is IMO the best liver version I have ever heard. Also, has anyone heard the Darkness play live? Are they a good live act or just a studio creation? I hope they are a good live act to go see.

The Darkness are cool.

Apparently Brian is in negotiations to work with them, so perhaps it will be for this?
