Thats quite blatently not true. Hip Hop obviously came out of rap, which began in Jamaica with DJs "rapping" over records they were spinning, mainly reggae (surprisingly enough).

Uhmm... most teenagers in the US. It has become their culture. For anyone who listens to music more than casually, I think their intelligence is in most cases directly proportional to the music they listen to.
