Yeah, those Queens. After hearing they were all gay, I immediately burned my entire library of Queen albums and collectibles.
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.

I didn't know Freddie was gay 'til 3 or 4 years ago when my mum told me. How ever it had abosolutely no impact on how much I liked them whatsoever. As a matter of fact for some reason after that year I just started to apreaciate them more and more...

Why is it that every so often, along comes a topic which refers to Freddie's sexuality?

Personally I think Freddie was more than the sum of his genitalia, and I don't give a fig about whether he was straight, bi,tri or lie?

When listening to the music - is that all you really care about?

I remember being at a friend's wedding, and on the bridal table was a magnificent wedding cake - and someone had to remark that the baker was gay.

Well so what?

Apart from washing his hands afterwards (which even straight people should do) what the F*CK difference does it make to the cake?

And whilst I am on the subject, why is it assumed that because I like Queen music - I must be gay too?
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."

I suspected that he was gay when I read that he died of AIDS. I asked my mom and she said that he was. But of course his sexuality didn't effect my love for queen at all.
-bvsfan1- HEY! I'M NOT A NEWBIE. I'VE BEEN A QUEEN FAN FOR YEARS.

"And whilst I am on the subject, why is it assumed that because I like Queen music - I must be gay too?"

Because, quite simply, people are stupid.

People had always said Freddie was gay but I never really knew until he died. When I found out I wasn't that surprised and it didn't change my view on the band. In fact, I'm glad Freddie was gay because it made him the entertainer that he was. The rest of the band weren't as outrageous as he was so his closet homosexuality (at least to the public eye) helped push forth the outlandish costumes and video ideas. Remember how straight-forward and, dare I say, dull :( the videos were in the 70's. Freddie wouldn't have been as cool if he was straight.

When i first started liking queen by dad told me he was gay. But when i saw him in concert and heard him sing i didnt believe it. Because in the 70s he didnt seem gay at all. He may have been camp but he didnt seem gay. Then i realized he definetly was fully sure of his sexuality in the 80s. It had never affected my love for queen. Some of my favorite bands are the least gay and i love eminem but i am in no way homophobic and queen is not at all a gay band their lead singer is just gay.
I good friend would be their to bail you out of jail...but a best friend would be there saying that was fuckin awsome!

I was twelve when I began listening to Queen and then some schollmates of mine said that they were all gay and so forth (later I found out that it was only Freddie). I just decided that I didn't care. And then Freddie died and people became more annoying and I ended up fighting (verbally) with everyone who said that homosexuality was somehow bad. Freddie made me anti-homophobic.

I found out that Freddie was gay when he stopped using nail lack and I needed years of therapy to get over it..
I do not want any google ads here.

I've been a huge Queen fan since 1974, and I guess I found out around 1980. I hate to admit it, but if I had known someone in the band was gay, I probably wouldn't have even listened to them. It was a homophobic thing I used to have, but I've gotten over it! I figure people's sexual preferences are their own business. Freddie's the best at what he did, and it has nothing to do with being gay or straight. All I know is, thank goodness I found them!!!
every second word he swore, yes, he was the son of a whore, always wanted by the law!

Monday morning, when eating Kellogs... Almost choked to death... I wanted to burn my entire collection but in the anger couldn't find matches... Then went to a 3-year therapy trying to figure out if by listening to his music I'm gay as well... After I finished my therapy I joined queenzone and posted topic "was freddie really gay" and was bashed by everyone on the board, so I needed another year of therapy to get over it... I'm fine now and so is my boyfriend... ;)
PS

I am not a fan for so long... but I knew that Freddie was gay right from the start.... and I don't give a shit... They're good and that's what's important...

I even feel like defending gays sometimes... just because Freddie was....
