I dont see how his sexuality has anything to do with his music at all at the end of the day his was somthing very special and the fact that he was gay was just a part of his privet life, he still would write his music regardless.

agree!
"I'd like to be carried on stage by six nubile slaves with palms and all." Here I am, Freddie!

freddie wasn't gay...he just liked men.
Freddie: "Yes, we'll have a great big cock fly over the crowd!" Roadies: "Yeah! Great Idea!" Freddie: "And it will fly into a great big mouth with a moustache!"

Not at all..... a big part of freddie was his open sexuality... thats a big part of his unique personality...

Most rock stars are open with their sexuality. It kind of comes with the turf.

I am not a fan for so long... but I knew that Freddie was gay right from the start.... and I don't give a shit... They're good and that's what's important...

I even feel like defending gays sometimes... just because Freddie was....

all of it...that's exactly what i was going to say

Should it matter if he was gay or not? NO!!!
Freddie you are so awesome!

One's sexual orientation has never nor never will ever make a difference.

Yet there are people that always have and always will pretend that it is an important issue.

To be honest, when I became a Queen fan I was 10 and I first thought ALL of them were gay because of the name of the band.

I feel slightly stupid making any comment whatsoever, having only heard a few instrumental arrangements of their songs, but why do people insist on characterizing others based on sexual preferences? There is so much more to a person than that one small piece! And why would the knowledge that someone is gay have any impact whatsoever - I thought it was the music that attracted people...

The music attracts them and the knowledge of Freddie being gay keeps them away :)...
"Why do people insist on characterizing others based on sexual preferences?" Cos they're stupid, that's why!
Unfortunately, there are lots of people who think that way and don't want to listen to Queen, Elton John or George Michael, cos they're gay! The lack of culture and education drives them to judge the quality of the music by the artist's sexual preferences, I think...
Btw, welcome to Queenzone, MetzgerR, have a good time and don't be embarassed anymore: one day, you'll certainly become a Deity on this board! As someone here said before, a newbie with quality posts is a thousand times better than a deity with tons of idiot posts (no offence to the nice dities on here - twas just an example)...

it is an issue for some people - but it never was for me. My dad tried to explain that to me when I was 12 "you see... Freddie had... special friends" "Yeah dad, he was gay. So what?" It's never been an issue. All it did was fascinate me more so and because of his sexuality, I've been able to figure things out for myself. Freddie is first and foremost a musician here at QZ and a person's personal life and orientation shouldn't matter in the world of music.

a person's personal life and orientation shouldn't matter at all!

When did you noticed freddie was Gay and did it infect your love for Queen

Hey, wait a sec. If it infected anyone's love for Queen why would they be here? (On this site, as a member)!

Really you couldnt really tell freddie was gay until the 80s. It never really occured to me until i saw the video collections and saw how uncomfortable he looked with the women dancing around him. I mean he was really sexy and i had always thought he was bi at the most. And who cares good music is good music and we shouldnt classify people. The only reason anyone should ever care about his gayness is to understand the love songs he wrote more. I mean not many of his songs really seemed like they were about men though except maybe its a hard life and my good old fashioned lover boy.
I good friend would be their to bail you out of jail...but a best friend would be there saying that was fuckin awsome!

I knew that Freddie was gay after months but I had the confirmation reading Jim's and Phoebe's books. For me it's not a real problem that could influence my love for Queen,I always think that Freddie was very very sexy even if gay.
