Who would you prefer for the Queen Tour

you're so right about Mac and Cheese! I guess I'm just being too emotional about this. I'm one of those fans who loves Queen as a band but whose bond to them is almost exclusively for Freddie. I have some doubts as to whether my decision not to go was right, only because by being at their concert I could sing along all their songs with thousands of fans, and celebrate Freddie. Seeing Brian and Roger would be added value, but so sad to see someone else replace him. That's why I hoped they'd tour alone...Or at least that they would go on with different projects.

Could you perhaps give me the link to the Capitol Gold Interview where I could hear PR sing with Roger and Brian?

But I totally agree with you that above all, Freddie is my main love, devotion, and link to Queen and this is breaking my heart....I just wish Brian & Roger would go and do it themselves...and even then..it would not be the same, plus I miss John too...

yeah and what has Paul Rodgers been doing here in the USA for over a decade....I've followed his career here...the has been 3rd tier golden oldie circuit of small clubs, state fairs, super small amphitheaters....a record dela with I think some super mini obscure independent label, covering other people's songs...give me a break....

Paul should be kissing Brian & Roger's a** because his career took a split second quantum leap from the pit of has been nowheresville to selling out stadiums across Europe and Covers of Press/Magazines when they asked him to come on the Queen Reunion Tour.

Well lets see I think George is ok but He doesn't have the balls that Freddie had...I mean it also has to be in your face rock and roll! I like the singer from "Queen For a Day"

I would prefer Paul Rodgers to anyone as this is the only reason Brian and Roger are touring again.

Thanks so much for the link, Arlene! I heard "We are the champions" sung by PR and it almost made me sick...He's certainly a good singer but it just doesn't feel right. Brian said Freddie's Mom agrees with this tour, and this is a plus. It certainly would be great to hear such good music, like a second Freddie tribute, perhaps. Maybe I'm just too emotional about this.

Although i think it's cool that Brian and Roger are still keen on touring and keeping the whole thing alive (or part of it), who they should get to sing (if anyone) is kind of a tough question. Lets face it, Freddie was and still is the first person most people think of when they think of 'Queen.' So whoever they pick is bound to piss some people off. Maybe John took the right choice to bail when he did...to call it quits to avoid all this kind of stuff down the track. Then again, it would have been awesome to see him team up with ONLY Brian and Rodger just for this tour and to see just those three perform by themselves, with NO stand in singer. It seems a bit odd to say the tour involves 'Queen' and Paul Rodgers seeing as Queen are now half of what they used to be, literally. And its a damn big half that's no longer there. But good on Brian and Rodger for doing what they are...they were both a big part of Queen. Remember... I'm not trying to start an argument here, merely stating my own opinion!

Merc, I perfectly agree with you. They are great artists and they should tour if that's what they want to do. It just freaks me out to hear someone else sing the old songs...I don't read a lot of fan magazines and stuff...What does John think of all this? Did he retire because he doesn't like the idea of touring without Freddie, or for other reasons?

Paul Rodgers definitely! Robbie Williams and George Michael would had been Freddie replacements, Paul is not, he is a classic rock performer and a hero of Brian (and maybe Roger). I see this reunion as an Smile more than a Queen reunion, and being myself a fan of the "Smile" part of Queen, I am absolutely thrilled by that! Expect a hard rock concert, harder than any previous Queen gig.

Def. Paul Rogers - Queen for me were first and formost a rock band, so I much prefer to have a talented rock singer guesting with the band, rather than somebody more pop or soul orientated.

I suppose it depends greatly on your take on Queen. Rock or po/soul.

Remember folks nobody is replacing Freddie so the songs will sound different with PR.

It would of been easy for the band to hire a Freddie impersonator such as that guy who won stars in their eyes.

Paul Rodgers is the best choice by far!! He's a rocker in the true sense and will bring his distinctive style to the Queen catalogue.

As has been said many times, he is not replacing Freddie. George Michael and Robbie Williams are unsuitable and probably too pop orientated to carry off the job of singing Queens rock style numbers. Robbies's cover of WWRY is crap!!

Paul is the same generation as Brian & Roger and has been around since late 60's, early 70's. Was making and singing classic rock before Robbie was born and when George Michael was in nappies(diapers).

Just enjoy the tour and look forward to some great rock'n'roll. I love Paul Rodgers as well as Queen so it's a double treat for me and personally can't wait to see them in May!!

Also Robbie said that it would be great to sing with Brian and Roger BACKING him- well... Backing? Same probably goes for George- would they include his solo stuff in the show as well? Please...

Funny enough- some of those who didn't like the idea of those shows saying "it's only for money" would rather see it with Robbie or George Michael. Now that wouldn't be for money, surely...

I still agree 100% with what you said (see my posts I said this too). I love when Brian, Roger, & John did "No One But You" and "Let Me Live". And I would rather hear Brian & Roger perform their solo repetoire, than some stand in singer such as Paul Rodgers hawk his catalog.

Brian & Roger...and yes John would have been the only ideal...of a Queen tour without Freddie. I really don't think they give enough credit to their fans in how much we love and appreciate and would have flocked to a Queen tour with ONLY the Original members of Queen and all of their talents....
