Who would you prefer for the Queen Tour

John from what I have heard has always taken things quite personally with Freddie's passing and I feel that he feels that without Freddie in Queen, John (and I personally applaud John's deep loyalty and devotion to Freddie)... John lost his professional/musical soulmate and so John is steadfastly against any Queen Reunion that has ANY non Queen Original member fronting or even guesting with the band. THAT is why he retired. Flat Out. Not because of the stress as some have said. Quite the opposite, I hear John thrived from working with Queen and also feels lost without Queen and his bandmates. I have a quote of John's from I believe a few years ago that was just republished in the 1/20/2005 Sunday Mail Newspaper in an article about John's loss of musical direction after Freddie's passing and John's distancing himself from the Queen current tour and goings on. The article's writer Wendy Leigh & Adam Luck say quote "His (John's) only comment on the thought of Queen reforming came when it was suggested that Robbie Williams might fill Mercury's shoes." quote from John "I don't want to be nasty, but Robbie Williams is no Freddie Mercury. Freddie can never be replaced..and certainly not by him."

Thanks so much, Arlene. I can understand John's view so well. I feel the same way. I don't blame RT and BM for touring...It just doesn't feel right to me. Something feels wrong. If I was able to take things less seriously I know I could go to the concert and have so much fun! But yes, I guess it all depends on the way we see Queen: for many it's a great rock band, for others it's just Freddie, more as a spiritual bond than just the music and shows. If it was only the 3 Queen originals it wouldn't make me feel so bad because they have all the rights in the world to sing Queen songs which after all are also their songs!

Hands down- Paul Rodgers. A year ago Brian wanted nothing to do with touring. There is something special, a spark, an epiphany that occured between the PR and Bri..that now, thank goodness we have tour to hear some great live music! Now Brian is really excited about this and it's great to see him exicted. I hope it's loud, I hope it hard, and I know I will have good time! I am going with an open mind and to be entertained- which in my past experiences on brian and roger solo efforts and one off items- they have not failed to deliver the goods.

And yes please come to the USA so Arlene and everyone else can have a great time with boys as well.

But seriously, I am very surprised (in a bad way)to hear your thoughts that Brian's & Roger's solo efforts and one off items "failed to deliver the goods". Strange. I would have thought that they would have ripped the roof off the house. I am interested in hearing from you about some of their solo gigs that you've seen and what you thought was lacking in their performances. I know I just said this..but I am really confounded that their solo efforts would be lackluster.
