Pink Floyd on Live 8

I have to disagree with you there - although do it for the kids wasn't as great as it could have been, Fall to pieces and Slither were fantastic. As for them not being such a good live act - I saw them at donnington at the Download Festival last month, and on a bill of 150 bands, they were by far the tightest, most entertaining, and most musically fantastic. In my opinion, they're the best rock band out there at the moment

I sort of like loved their act. I enjoyed their performance and it's the first time I saw them

The only thing I didn't like about the Pink Floyd set is that they didn't include 'Another Brick In The Wall' or 'Run Like Hell'.

I'm actually happy about them not playing "Another Brick..."... Simply because that meant they didn't chose the obvious way to please the crowd. RESPECT :) And to be quite honest- I'd prefer sth like Shine On or even Hey You to Another Brick...

'Shine On Your Crazy Diamond' is perhaps my favorite Pink Floyd song, but for a 20 minute set it'd be way too long if played completely. Although I think it'd be freakin' sweet if they played a small part of the song, just like when Queen played 'Bohemian Rhapsody' in Live Aid.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to *see* it yet, because we have no cable at the moment, but we listened to it on the radio and they sounded great!

Yeah, that could be really sweet. Anyway- it was sweet anyway :) ONLY 20 minutes but hey- if someone told me before that Gilmour and Waters are going to perform together as Pink Floyd I'd laugh in his face.

'PINK FLOYD RE-UNITING FOR LIVE 8'.
...and that because I was thinking it was going to be just Glimour, Wright, and Mason. Since Gilmour mentioned a couple of years ago that he wasn't particularly considering re-uniting Pink Floyd, and said he's had enough of it.

Then when I read that Waters was joinging them, I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. It was hard to believe that after all the feuds between Gilmour and Waters they decided to put the bad feelings aside. I guess that's just the power of great causes like this one.
Now I'm really hoping that there might be a Pink Floyd re-union next year and go back on tour as a 4 member band. I don't know if that will happen, but I know for sure that after Live 8 concert promoters will be fighting and bringing offers by lots of millions to Pink Floyd to go on tour again.

Even if they don't re-unite I'm happy for what they did in Live 8. Besides, next year 'The Wall' on Broadway will premiere and finally there will be a musical that I'm very looking forward to see, and I won't be thinking so much that spending more than $80 on a ticket might be worth it or not.

I didn't see the VR Live 8 performance, so I can't comment there, but they sucked ass when we saw them live in Charlotte, NC. Weiland was so wasted he ruined the whole show..a complete waste of time and money. And I loved Contraband, btw.

Actually, talking of the Floyd, its seems that despite their album sales rocketing after Live 8 they are refusing to cash in on any profits gained. Heres a link for more proof

Another thing about people being so amazed that Pink Floyd would reunite and..be so pleasant to one another during their performance at Live 8.

Bob Geldof is not only very good friends with both David Gilmour and Roger Waters for many years now...

..But people forget that Bob Geldof played Pink in the film version of ''The Wall'' (which is how and when he became friends with them).

...Also...hmmmmmmmm..there was an interview with Geldof about a month and a half ago in one of the Brit mags, Q or Mojo, I forget...about how...

...Roger Waters personally asked Geldof to play Pink in the film..and Bob refused and called it..

..sheer $*$&%$## (unprintable!)...So Roger kept asking Bob again and again, and Bob kept saying that he hated the whole idea of being an actor in a rock film, the whole Hollywood scene and that it was all $^%$% (unprintable!).

..BTW..LMFAO at Bob's recollection of this, curse words included!..

...So...Roger Waters invited Bob for lunch, and on the limo ride over, they talked more....and Roger kept trying to give good reasons WHY Bob should play Pink, and Bob said all he and Roger did was curse at and lock horns with one another...

...but..Bob kiddingly said...THAT is what made him and Roger become Friends! (because they are so much alike!.....

..So..Bob and Roger became friends..and Bob took the acting role...and the rest as they say is history...now because that very friendship..helped sow the seeds for the Pink Floyd reunion for Live 8, and there you have it!

I just saw Floyd's whole set, and it's perhaps the best concert appearance I've seen in years. Amazing stuff. They didn't miss a single note.

I will have to download this when I get home from work, but for now I will listen to some Floyd on my iPod. I suppose that'll do...
