The problem is, it is the crap manufactured wank that dominates the charts, becuase little girls and their mum's go out and buy it.
Shame really, but given the crap out there, for a group that hasn't been around properly for the best part of a decade to team up with another bloke who is in a similar position to enter at number twelve is pretty good in my opinion. Also with not a lot of promotion AND given its a live offering.

Queen's music is great and Paul Rodgers is a great singer who does a great job.I love some versions on the cd.For me Roger really stands out.The songs he sings are my favourites.I also like Last horizon and hammer to fall and the paul rodgers songs.I'm glad I bought this album and I will buy the dvd aswell.For me it is nowhere near as good as queen with freddie but still brilliant music by brilliant musician.

If we went with this logic that would mean that Westlife's songs are among the works of Bethoveen or Mozart... They sold shitloads didn't they? that could be true, people tend to focus on the visual nowadays. imo there IS a lot of crap out there as people have said - but unfortunately it sells incredibly well, as opposed to timeless music written by legends. sometimes i wish jack black would in real life run a school of rock, give some people today some PROPER education.

There are albums that are (apparently) good, and also sell very well. All those classic albums like "Rumours", "Dark Side of the Moon", "A Night at the Opera"...
Now, if the latest Bri+Rog live album was really as great as you could imagine by reading the dozens of rave reviews on this message board, then surely the album would have sold better?
Apparently there was some 150,000 tickets sold in the UK, yet only a fraction of those persons have bought the album. I might be interpreting it in a bit more pessimistic way than you, but to me that sounds like the general public who WERE in the concerts didn't like it that much!

One thing you're forgetting- the albums you mentioned indeed sold extremely well, but... they are STUDIO albums, not live ones. Give me ONE live album that sold anywhere near Dark side Of The moon or The Wall... It's acompletely different thing to go on a gig and to buy a live CD- not everyone at those gigs was a band fan- there are many people who go to many gigs and won't necesairly buy a live album from every one of them... I could agree with you to some extent, but it's not as black and white... This album ISN'T the best live work i've ever heard. But it IS good. In fact it's one of the better CDs I bought this year (among Dream Theater's "Octavarium" or System Of A Down's "Mezmerize"). General public didn't buy it? Do you think Queen's Boxed Set will sell in huge quantity? I don't think so- will it mean that no-one cares about Queen even with Freddie? Not really... General public prefers to buy crap like "The Way To Amarillo" or "Crazy frog"- I really don't care how high an album charts- when I like it, i like it... I've got one copy of the album of course!Most folks attend with partners now due to the age range so thats one copy in two!

I think the fact that this is the first Queen album in 10 years, the band is lacking its key member, and it is a live album, already at #12 - is absolutely amazing. Queen is a band who are well past their heyday, and this is quite an accomplishment. It's totally not fair to compare this to Rumours, Dark Side, or ANATO as suggested, for the aforementioned reasons.
