Why are Queen fans against hip hop music?

Because one of our CC coaches is retiring, we played some songs at the CC awards banquet-
1. We Will Rock You
2. We Are The Champions
3. Another One Bites The Dust
4. Long Away
5. 39
6. These are the days of our lives

We did the first 3 so everyone could identify the band, number 4 to give people a taste of a non greatest hit song, we let Matt (guitarrist 2) do 5 and 6 was dedicated to Coach and his wife.

By the end of Days Of Our Lives, we had everybody in the banquet crying. I've never heard of this happening with hip hop.

I'm not against it...Hip hop just isn't my type of music. That's pretty much the same with other Queen fans...

I don't like the majority of hip hop because it's all about the same crap. "I got drunk, I had sex with a hot chick, she had a big ass, I'm such a mother *bleep*ing pimp." Occassionally they also throw in "you shot me once, no I'm gon' *bleep*ing kill you, you *bleep*ing son of a *bleep*... *bleep*, yeah, *bleep* uhh. *bleep* yeeeeeah" or if you're talking about female artists... "I'm hot, you're hot, but mostly I'm hot. I know you want me... because I'm hot. Let's go do the dirty"

Many of the Hip hop songs are just bad karaoke over sound samples of really talented artist. Most, in my opinion are crap... some/few might be a little interesting.

You will never meet a serious musician who takes rap to be a form of music worth investing into. Most rap music has very little musicality to it, and does nothing to challenge musicians. But again, the same can be said about 99% of today's commercially popular rock and pop as well.

Isn't Mike Portnoy a big fan of rap music?

To me popular rap "music" is only about image and showing off. Furthermore it's decreasing moral standards big-time, due to the video's that accompany the songs.

Portnoy surely does have diverse musical tastes, but I've never heard he liked rap! Either way, just because MP likes rap doesn't mean it has made him a better drummer. :)

It did give him the "show off" attitude though ;)

Our very own Roger is a confessed Eminem fan, and I know Brian admires him also.

Or does this not count becuase it involves our beloved Queen and whatever they say goes (well, among those close-minded people among us, anyway)?

Simple, rap is fast talking to music. I cannot enjoy that

*sigh* some people don't know what music is.
