"And didn't Brian, on one of his Soapbox rants say something about how much he despised this format for finding potential talent? The hypocricy in amazing......"
Hmmm... it does strike me as a bit two-faced that he'd go on something like Idol.
There might be a slight technical difference between a show that launches an artist in their own right, and a show that auditions for a singer... personally, the former sucks because the contracts are so shitty, and the latter sucks because it's the kind of thing I'd want to do off-TV.
Hmmm. Not sure what Brian's thinking is on this, lets flood his e-mail and find out.
"I'm curious about where are our famous defenders of "everything what Brian and Roger are doing" now... Hey, guys!"
Hahhaa, funny. I have to say though, I might be one of those folks that defends Brian and Roger a lot, but it's not because it's Brian and Roger, it's because (usually) I agree with them.
This Idol appearance is bunk to me because I'm already sold on Queen. But I have to agree with ol' rhyeking here. The exposure will be invaluable.

Ah, freakin' Kellie Pickler!!!! She got to hug him and if she sings "Bohemian Rhapsody" I will shoot myself I promise you.
well i cannot to see the show i have been thinking about since i heard they were going to do queen songs. i was introdused to by the movie waynes world. when i saw the video of boh rhap. i was laughing cause of the sceans of the movie. then i found out on an old show on vh1 called my generation. brian was hosting it and they show a bunch of there videos. i didnt know about freddie dying of AIDS untill a little later. when another one bites the dust was playing was like oh my god my older brother would sing that. it brought a tear in my eye cause my older brother died in 1986 of a car hitting him. so i knew it was fate that i would love this band and learn so much about freddie and the other.
i have my predictions on the other thread but i cant not wait to see them. one other thing paul rogers is not bad guy. i think freddie would respect him for what he is doing.

IM SOOOO EXCITED!
Ive been watching AI since season 1...
AAAHHH! And last night when i saw the promo, i literally, FREAKED!!! I knew that next week was gonna be QUEEN week, but i wasnt sure if they were going to actually perform --(which is usually the pattern, the artist will perform the night of elimination)--because of the tour...
BUT OMG!!! THEY GOT TO WORK WITH QUEEN! thats all i was saying...my mom kept telling me to calm down, but i couldnt!!! :-P
And i know people are saying Bri's being a hypocrite, but i dont see it as that way. He has said that he doesnt understand these shows, but however, this is not a show where they are looking for a lead singer of THEIR band. They've already got the talent there, and they're doing a sendoff for QUEEN so it only makes sense that they go and actually be on the show....
And i was very sad that Mandisa was voted off, she would have rocked a Queen ballad...
Grrr... I hope no one will butcher anything....
I CANT WAIT TO SEE THEM!! (AGAIN! sure its on TV, but eh, its a live performance!)
And it will expose many others to QUEENS music outside of (hopefully more outside of) WATC, WWRY and BO RHAP...
I kinda hope no one does BO RHAP, unless its QUEEN anyways... but we'll j/ wait and see...
oye... now i gotta wait 5 days for this.... the anticipations already killing me!
WHO LOVES TAYLOR HICKS??? ME! That guy is awesome!! I cant wait to see what he was gonna do... But im sad Mandisa's gone... i thought she had the best range and talent...

they just do it for promotion and they are right.if that's the only way to make queen's music famous at the young people in the USA then they should do it.

Brian said that he would never do what INXS did - which was search for a new singer in an American Idol-type format. He NEVER said that he "despised" shows like Idol just in general. Brian and Roger aren't going onto Idol looking for a new singer - they're judging the contest, performing live, and keeping their music in the public eye. He isn't doing anything hypocritical at all.
I've never watched an episode of American Idol in my life, but I can't wait to tune in for that episode.

i am so excited!! but theyre only going to have them on american idol because theyre in town, basically. this is the only publicity ive heard of them since theyve been in america.....what is wrong with this country?
We've never wasted a second watching the show...
That being said, Q+PR would have probably sold out every show had this taken place BEFORE the tour.
Co-workers who know of my interest in the band, and seen a pic or two w/ wife and Brian, may not know who he is, but when 'Queen' was mentioned, there were plenty who knew that AmerIdol was featuring them next week.
Maybe an East Coast 'goodbye' gig or two, from that show's following, would be in order
(hint, hint)

And folks, this is not an audition for a new singer. Queen is playing backing for the contestants, just like the Miami Sound Machine did when all the contestants sang Gloria Estefan tunes a season or two ago.
THIS JUST IN: On Tuesday night, the American Idol panel will include four judges: Simon, Paula, Randy and JOHN DEACON! ;-)

I don't think it's hypocracy at all...every year the american idol people do nights of specific artists music and this year because queen are back in the game so to speak, and because they are such a huge musical talent they decided it would be cool for the contestants to have a swing at queen music. Also what a great test of talent to see what they can do with freddie's vocals. I don't think it will be wonderful or anything but I see it as a compliment to queen that american idol is doing this. Good for them.
I am very excited. Hahaha I'm just waiting for someone to say "That was better than the origional" so I can scream at my television. I am so incredibly jealous of those contestants...its my dream to perform with Brian and Roger! My goodness!

Actually I din't know until Ryan sad it, but before that when that old guy sang some song(o god I have to say that country music is the most boring music ever made by men or women)stull I was thinking about Queen. I was thinking to my self " What if some night they sing Queen songs but wait a minite. Better is for girls to sing female songs becouse Fready sings in songs that are better of to be sang by men. So for the girls someone else famious like Madonna." And after thinking that it happen. First I was shocked and then I was like "Why when I thing of something it becomes true. I am happy that all fans treat each of Queen's members equally. You talk about all of them well the least is John Deacon. Another good thing is that US will learn who is Queen. They will be like "Oh I din't know that this song is belongs to Queen". Lets hope that it will be a pleasure tp watch how they sing. And lets hope that they will not make fulls of themselves.
P.S : I hope that Simon likes Queen's music.

That's why I think its sucks that these people get to perform with the Gods that we idolize that they probably have never heard of (Brian and Roger not Queen, everyone has heard of them)<if that makes sense. Queen fans would give up anything to meet them and these contestants get to and its just...not fair and you bet I'm pissed. But, I want to see what they think of the peoples' voices, he'll probably lie and say they're good because I know when Brian is lying.
