Y'all are too harsh.
I'm excited that Queen's music will get to reach a whole new audience through America's most popular show. After next week, maybe MORE people will go see their shows. And that's a good thing, right? Plus, I know Brian and Roger will do amazing on the show. I'm more worried about the contestants ruining the songs anyway.
And for everyone talking about Brian's hypocrisy, honestly, shut up! He's already clarified that while he doesn't really admire that type of "audition process", he doesn't disrespect other peoples' choice on the matter. He wished INXS luck, but said that they (meaning QUEEN) would never do that to find a new singer.
American Idol is not a search for a new lead singer for an existing band. It's a search for the best undiscovered talent in America. He might not like the idea of QUEEN searching for a new lead singer, but Brian's always loved working with young talent. Besides, none of these guys would become THEIR lead singer anyway. I had the opportunity of doing an internship with a Republican Representative this summer; it would have been interesting and it would have looked good on my resume I suppose; but I couldn't see myself defending political ideas I loathe.
Abiding by your own principles can be difficult. But at least when I fail to do it, I recognize I'm doing something wrong.

never said it was a huge deal. i just showed that Brian had been very hypocritical about that. after all, HE is the one who's always talked about reality-tv as something REALLY bad... god, they've even made a musical against manufactured pop!
