It would give us the chance to "clean up" the other forums without actually deleting or censoring the crappy posts. People might learn how annoying their threads are when they keep being moved to a "trash forum". It could be a compromise that gives us some breathing space.
The fan mixes forum is an example how a decent forum can look like. It's not moderated but the users respect each other and share their hobby in peace.
I think that this is the best idea I have heard so far. If Richard does not want the site to be moderated, lets at least have a crappy post section where all the junk gets moved to.

I don't mind, I just want a policy to be ENFORCED that crap is moved there.

I'm not sure how much my opinion matters, but I think this is an excellent idea.
A nonsense forum only works if the idiots are willing to stick to it.
And the problem is that most of the idiots don't think that what they post IS nonsense

That's why I suggest one or two extra mods, charged with moving the true nonsense there.

I must agree with PG
The idea of a nonsense forum is nice, but I fear it will be more work for the moderators to filter the nonsense from the persnal stuff and in reaction there might be complaints from posters who are not aware what kind of postings
So, for the board I think there will not be a huge change, just a load of extra work for the moderating team
(I just care for the moderators, that's why)

Well, first of all, Richard has not yet approved.
I am aware that there will be problems and discusssions about what is "nonsense" and what is not. But something must happen or the board will be overrun by the spammers. I think it is a good compromise. People will defend their topics against hijackers when they feel that the board is cared about. It is time that users realise that a colourful username and 1000 posts per month do not make a welcome addition to this board.

You know, I actually agree here. If it's indeed introduced, I think it might prove QZ's salvation.
You label those who disagree with your political or world views as ignorant and facsist and you suggest that they should be taken out back and shot, then you claim that QZ's problems are due to a lack of moderation? QZ's lack of moderation has given you several chances, Caspar; most boards would have kicked you to the curb months ago.
If the attitude on QZ is to change, it has to come from the posters themselves, not just moving out excess baggage to a new forum. A Nonsense forum, most likely, will help make things managable, but it won't automcatically mean QZ gets better. As long as certain poisonous attitudes masquerading as "enlightenment and education" remain unchecked, people will think twice before posting.
If you really want to help QZ, Caspar, stop jumping down the throat of everyone you disagree with. Of course, that means checking this so-called "tough guy" attitude you have and admitting when you are wrong sometimes.

Can't all the "old users" create some interesting topics sometimes?
I may be wrong, but I think the best way to "fight" those threads we don't like is posting threads we like.
If every "oldie" started one interesting topic every week, this board would be much better, wouldn't it?

I don't think these threads fit in there.
Okay, I just wanted to make it clear that the "What if..." thread I created was a joke since I seem (mostly) incapable of posting anything to make people in the other nonsense threads clam up, and I thought being silly was more productive (and fun) than getting mad.
Sorry if I'm overly defensive but this is because I agree with almost everything that other people here are saying, and I'm pretty miffed with how - in just the time I've been here - there's been an increase in "spam" threads.
Personally, I don't mind the "caption threads" and the "group hug" threads. I do think that "What if Freddie wasn't gay" and "Have you seen THOSE tapes" and other such things are pointless (in a bad way), but I wouldn't ask for them to be deleted or moved. I mean, I don't like the "___ Appreciation" threads, but I know many people do - and they don't hurt me by existing, I just don't read them.
