I appreciate the nominations, but I'm not very level-headed and would go ban-crazy on all the idiots here...
I think a nice set of rules to follow would be great, much in the same way that the Serious Discussion forum has a set of rules. The rules could consist of:
1. No MSN-style chats here
2. No AOL spelling
3. No random thoughts, QZers above you, etc.
Stuff like that. Maybe also have a screen similar to when you post in Serious Discussion that reinforces the rules.

Quite true William. And I am wondering, if there was indeed a moderator or two appointed, would people even be willing to agree and abide by their decisions? I can remember Pieter being appointed mod several years ago, only to be treated like someone who committed Murder One when he banned Haole. It was completely rediculous.

QZ goes through periods of down time, times of bitching, times when every one is calling for this and that, and it always changes.
QZ has weathered many storms, why change it now becuase people are calling for something new, Barb does a fine job as it is, of course she dont have 100% of time to commit to this page, as NO one should commit 100% of thier time here, You think if you are old enough to use the interent you are smart enough to respect using a communtity board.
I think we should leave it as it is, and in another month or 2 we will have the same disscussion anyways, and if we get mods, we will have discussion's talking WHY we DONT need mods.

The fact that Haole was banned at all was quite ridiculous. All over a petty squable as I recall. This was an excellent excample where moderation goes wrong. I would much rather skip over bogus topics or dubious posters than endure the petty politics of a moderated forum.
As for the proposed trash section ... I suppose it is a good idea if it does not create significantly more work for YV.
