Can someone explain me what has happened here?

I know that the last days, some members were "erased"- Alex solan, KillerKing840 (by mistake). Who were the other ones?

What has happened that caused all this?

i don´t come to the personal forum very often, but i would really like to know what discussion has caused all this!

Take care

QZ's lack of moderation has given you several chances, Caspar; most boards would have kicked you to the curb months ago.

If the attitude on QZ is to change, it has to come from the posters themselves, not just moving out excess baggage to a new forum. A Nonsense forum, most likely, will help make things managable, but it won't automcatically mean QZ gets better. As long as certain poisonous attitudes masquerading as "enlightenment and education" remain unchecked, people will think twice before posting.

If you really want to help QZ, Caspar, stop jumping down the throat of everyone you disagree with. Of course, that means checking this so-called "tough guy" attitude you have and admitting when you are wrong sometimes.
Well said.
The Golden Gate Bridge should have a long bungee cord for people who aren’t quite ready to commit suicide but want to get in a little practice.

I too like the points Zeni brings up, especially about "checking" the people who post nonsense. I assume what she means is how it was in the old days where if you posted something stupid, you were told it was stupid, you felt like an idiot, stuck your tail between your legs, and you learned your lesson from it.

I lurked for a long time before I began posting on here almost four years ago. I could tell that was the best way to start to chime in. I read and found out who made interesting posts, who was always sarcastic, who was down right evil, who was really cool, nice, etc., and as I saw things I felt "qualified" to post in, I posted. I didn't just fill the board up with crap. I am still very much, a lurker. I enjoy reading posts a lot more than making them. You learn more that way, or at least I do.

Crap brings me to another point..I am all for free speech as well and I like the board being unmoderated. It gives me a sense of pride and responsibility for what I choose to post here. If I post it, it will stay, and I will have to deal with any reprocussions of what I say. So, I do not care if people want to say stupid things or create stupid threads (whatever my opinion of stupid may be), I learn very quickly whose posts to skip over, whose replies not to bother reading, it's all fine. But I do have a problem with the board being littered with nothing but shit. It covers up any interesting topics there might be and it eventually drives away anyone who would like to post an interesting topic.

So, I am all for free speech and the less moderation the better, for us and for Barb. Bc she is ultimately the one who will have to babysit all of us if we choose not to be respectable, so Hans is right here.

The nonsense forum could be a good idea but who decides what is nonsense and what isn't? Barb? Does she want to take a lot of her own personal time reading every thread, every post, and set criteria up for what is junk and what isn't? I'd not want to spend my time doing that. I definitely agree with whoever said that people who are posting nonsense won't be using the nonsense forum bc they will not think what they post is nonsense.

I think it takes a person of enormous patience to deal with all of the different personalities on QZ. I'm fairly confident that only Barb and a very small handful of others on here will be able to handle the task of "watching" over the QZers as subjectively and as patiently as Barb does. I do not know how she puts up with us or better, how she puts up with me. ;)

I'll support whatever the majority wants or whatever Barb and Richard decide. I'll behave either way (bwuahahahaha

General Queen Discussion:

What if Freddie was not gay??
You May Be an Obsessed Queen Fan If...

I don't think these threads fit in there.
Okay, I just wanted to make it clear that the "What if..." thread I created was a joke since I seem (mostly) incapable of posting anything to make people in the other nonsense threads clam up, and I thought being silly was more productive (and fun) than getting mad.

Sorry if I'm overly defensive but this is because I agree with almost everything that other people here are saying, and I'm pretty miffed with how - in just the time I've been here - there's been an increase in "spam" threads.

Personally, I don't mind the "caption threads" and the "group hug" threads. I do think that "What if Freddie wasn't gay" and "Have you seen THOSE tapes" and other such things are pointless (in a bad way), but I wouldn't ask for them to be deleted or moved. I mean, I don't like the "___ Appreciation" threads, but I know many people do - and they don't hurt me by existing, I just don't read them.
I'm not saying the threads aren't fun or anything, BUT they don't fit in the general section, that's it. That's why i said we need a nonsense section, these threads will fit in there nicely.
We love you Mandy!
You have a point there, Zeni and Lisser. In the end it's up to the users. Richard already created a second Queen forum to give the serious threads a place and look what happens to the General Queen Forum, it's a mess. We cannot create forums ad infinitum but it's a chance to contain the rubbish from ALL forums in one nonsense forum. This won't make the notice board a great place, it's just a start.

It's not only the nonsense threads, it's how users post in interesting threads that makes it difficult for regular users to stay. I discussed it with pma in the chat room and he says he would like to discuss long time running which is his hobby but what would happen?
user a : I don't like running
user b : running suxxx
user c: AAAH, daaahling , you are so COOOL!!!! Don'tcha think Rog is hotttt
etc

Topic starters need to defend their threads against hijackers and post hunters because there is no option to censor or delete such crap. Many people are tired of this and it needs all of us to reclaim the board and put an end to this. I have always opted to ignore because I am a foreign language speaker and it always sounds serious and unpleasant when I say something. But too many long time users have ignored, it's time that we raise our voices.
I do not want any google ads here.
[QUOTENAME]<font color="lime">KillerKing840 wrote: [/QUOTENAME]Can't all the "old users" create some interesting topics sometimes?
I may be wrong, but I think the best way to "fight" those threads we don't like is posting threads we like.

If every "oldie" started one interesting topic every week, this board would be much better, wouldn't it?
I like the idea and I think I'll be very happy there.

LOL. You'll get your very own forum.
Not Plutus but Apollo rules Parnassus
I believe if we addressed people online as we did face to face then we would perhaps have a little more decorum around the joint. How difficult is it to be polite, sincere and at times apologetic? Sometimes I wish I were smart enough to tell everyone to just lay low but there's always someone ready to take the opposite stance saying kicking and screaming is the only way.

Combined all the 'oldies' (which I'm leaning towards calling myself even though there's hundreds more people here before me) couldn't piss up enough of a storm to fill a small thimble. Sad, but true. Inevitable the old get replaced with the new.
...this kettle is boiling over... ...one dump...one turd...two tits...John Deacon... ...one prawn...one shrimp...one clam...one chicken!
I always find it slightly ironic and faintly amusing that whenever there's a serious post like this (about once every quarter at the moment), the very people it attacks stay out of it. They're either scared by the fact that we're having a go at them, or they're completely uninterested and unable to indulge in intelligent conversation.

I think it's a combination of the two. And to me that says that if we, the old timers and the more cerebrally advanced, were actually to post more interesting topics and more obviously berate the people that piss in our pool, the current problem wouldn't be so great. The twatty teenagers would more frequently come up against posts that are above them and that ridicule them. And as is the case with this post, we would be blessed with their non-appearance. Of course, that's not really saying anything that nobody else has said.

Unfortunately I also think Queen are to blame for the current state of the boards. The resurgence of the Queen name in the last few years has generated many new young fans. Nothing much was going on in the Queen world when most of us old-timers first started loitering here, yet the recent activity has created an influx of teenage Queen fans that are net savvy and seemingly unable to string a sentence together. If the band had been laid to rest in a dignified manner a decade ago, the boards here would still be in the idyllic state that they were in at the turn of the century.

(And I fully agree with Martin that the only good thing about our current problem is that it's a great cure for QZ addiction...).
Gullibility and credulity are considered undesirable qualities in every department of human life -- except religion.

Right, I'm convinced. I'm going to go break Brian May's legs and make sure he never tours again.
