Hello fellow QZers.
I am one of those teenage "twats" referred to previously.
Although as of late, i have merely been lurking about waiting for an interesting topic that would be benefical to my "fandom" (if you will) of Queen. That is why I became a member here in the first place. I havent begun a "foolish" because its not something that i really want to know of, nor care about. I want to know more about the music and the men behind it. Only pertinent things however. Although i have no problem whatsoever with the picture captions and some of those fun threads.
And I'm all for the moderation OR NOT of this board. As long as it can stay around and be benefical to myself and those like me whom come here to discuss one of the greatest and most influential bands for myself and millions of others.
I would gladly post interesting topics myself, but being a QZ "noob" I dont really know what to ask or post about that hasnt been done a million times before. So i simply wait for a thread to catch my fancy and participate in it if i so wish.
And yes, some of the threads around here lately have been rather ridiculous. I've noticed a significant change from since i joined the board only a few months ago. And i must say it somewhat worries me. Although i have probably posted some "silly" replies once now and again, please dont hold that against me. As i am younger and do make mistakes. But i try not to overall.
I always loved intelligent discussions, such as Lester's Album discussions among other things.
I remember not knowing which thread to read first because there was so much information for me at my fingertips. now its pretty much gone with the exception of the Serious Discussion thread. I always enjoy a great discussion on the band, and even other things which were in the personal section, actual true discussions on politics and how people percieve things in different countries around the world.
There are a lot of different things to be learned here at QZ both musically and personally.
So do as you must. But i must say a big thank you to Richard and to you also Barb for having this board for us available and free.

In some ways I think all of you are almost too inclined to blame the ‘teenie boppers’ for the decline fo this board. Fair enough, it is mainly their doing but not all. I think if you want the board to become a better place you’ve got to stop blaming others and actually do something about it yourselves. I think you also have to remember that not all the teenagers here are the ‘Brian is soooooooo HOT!!!!1’ types and some of them actually enjoy participating in serious discussions about the band.
Also, I find it slightly ironic that some of the oldies can point fingers when you often participate in threads that just say ‘Vagina aah yeah’ which doesn’t show much maturity and certainly isn’t setting an example.
And it’s not just teenagers starting the pointless threads, there are adults on here that act like 12 year olds, (one comes to mind immediately..)
So rather that sitting here writing essays about how ’immature’ and ’braindead’ these teens are why don’t you actually create some intelligent threads?

Why bother if they will hijack the thread with nonsense? Which happens all the time.
Sure the brat pack isn't the only one to blame, you're right about that. There's just no unity on this board. The adults have their flaws too, sure. You can't have a totally serious Personal Section, then it would be too boring. But there's a difference in posting fun threads or using the board as a bloody chatbox.

I think the QAY thread channels the spam into one thread, if they stick to the rules of the thread it will go swimmingly. It's the spam in the other threads and sections i'm worried about.

As for my two pennies worth, I personally think we do need more moderation here, however I guess a nonsense forum might help.
I am fed up with the crap that gets posted here and I also get fed up with prats like Greg coming here purely to get folk arguing, he should know better but sadly he doesn't and we should know better for allowing it.
Most of the time no moderators works well, however there is a point at which it just makes this board a joke, having to wade thought pages of crap and rubbish from the likes of Greg just make it impossible to find genuine people sometimes with a real love for the music we all claim to support.

The thing is that people who might've been here longer than some understand that some people are wind-up merchants or are just bored kids or adults looking to stir shit up. The people who know better don't respond, while the newer folk often are quick to jump on the offensive, which inevitably gets the ball running and feeds the troll(s) because they're getting a response.
We should all know better than to dignify trolls and Greg with responses, but we don't, and it's likely we never will.

Personally I don't believe in the no moderation policy, but thats just my opinion. However, I don't think that moderation would probably kill QZ. Too many people here like the no moderation policy.

I like being responsible for my own postings, but I'm not against moderation because I don't think I'll be affected by it. For the most part, I behave myself here and I respect other users of the board, hence I have minimal issues. I don't reply to idiotic threads or to trolls and it seems to work for me. The only issue I have is when all the shit covers up anything that is good or when all the shit drives away interesting posters and posts.
