go on, make us jealous:P
Sorry! I just HAD to show you guys how much they adore the UK. =) But the UK are their hometown anyways....

Ultimately, we don't rock like the British. Just look and compare:

USA:
Aerosmith
Van Halen
The Eagles
Bon Jovi
Pearl Jam

England:
Queen
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones
Def Leppard

okay, that's not completely fair. you've left off some of america's most important acts! jimi hendrix, creedence clearwater revival, the doors, nirvana...america is not at all shabby in the rock and roll department!
to whoever said this topic was offensive, i wasn't trying to start a bash-america-fest...i just felt we'd been left out of the loop a little when it comes to the queen festivities:P ("darkest america" is a reference to uh...paddington bear, if that's what you're annoyed about. it's not a dis.)
[QUOTENAME]<font color=purple>Miss James wrote: [/QUOTENAME] I suppose I am in the position where I have been a Queen fan long enough that I have heard this same pitch before. Every year when it's Freddie's birthday or his death anniversary, ppl complain that Freddie doesn't get enough attention. While it's true, it doesn't change either.

Edit: Also I have converted loads of ppl, too. Then again, these people aren't in control of what is played on VH1 or MTV.
okay. i don't think we actually disagree on a lot. i don't really expect every rock star's birthday to be celebrated every year with a special release-as much as i would personally enjoy that!;)
what we really have to do is convince mike meyers to make another film showcasing queen:D
well we really dont celebrate any bodies birthday in the music industry except elvis. since he was dubbed as the king of rock and roll. they may not have specials on him on mtv or vh1 but they always have his movies on tmc or amc. i wish they would do something for freddie birthday considering was the first rock star to die of aids that was very well know though out the world and his music imspired alot of musicians. i know i will do a shot of his favorite vodka. and watch his documentry from his box set and probably cry my eyes out.

Argh...Hot Space didnt kill America...the works did
Roger: Can I go To Lunch Now? Brian: No, You Can't... --------------------------------------- Freddie: Oh Shit, All this crap again?! "If I had to do it all over again, yes why not? why not

.....ah yes, but remember- Hendrix had to move to England to actually 'make it'.
Gentleman, you can't fight in here - this is The War Room!

Just a short comparison. A longer one would be even worse.

I'll say it once again....

Queen's popularity in music is a mirror of soccer's popularity as a sport. #1 all over the world, or at least close to it, except for the USA where it isn't even close.

I'm American, and I'll admit it-British bands rock harder and far better!

you guys act like you're so unlucky. we have NOTHING. zip. zero. nada. none. no queen stuff. nobody remembers queen. all they sell here are the greatest hits. lucky for you, you have at least anato, sheer heart attack, etc. i've read it in the previous threads that america has these records. and you wished you were british? well, yeah. fair enough. i wished i was brit. well, for one thing, the government here sucks ass, and second, there is an absolute lack of good music here. all they have are records of whoever is famous today, and all those novelty songs crap. haaaay. *breathe in, breathe out*.

haha! peace. sorry if this offends anyone. it's just my take on your opinions. :)

HELLO out there HOLLYWOOD RECORDS

it's pretty dark up in this piece, you're right, but just for Ss & Gs, 94 WRLF in Fairmont WV had a "Queen Winning Weekend" all this past weekend-- playing Queen in heavy rotation, call in to win the "Queen Under Review" dvd. They played FBG, IILWMC, BH, AOBTD, UP, YMBF, TYMD, WWRY/WATC, etc etc and they use a cheery clip of Brian saying "hi! this is Brian May from Queen..." on their fillers/liners

there are actually pockets of royal family loyalty over here. As for Freddie solo stuff, don't hold yer breath.
When a red hot man meets a white hot lady, Hoop Diddy Diddy, Hoop Diddy Doo!
Different cultures will have different tastes. I live in NY and I am sure there is absolutely nothing going that I know of that will mark Freddies 60th. Sometimes I'll hear something remembering his death, though. If we want to evaluate every country and see what they celebrate as being "brilliant", Christ the French love Jerry Lewis! But, it must be said, England does seem to have produced the best bands (in particular the British Invasion, first and second waves in the 60's), but they were all influenced by Elvis and American Black musicians. While I do not have the authority to apologize on behalf of all Americans for not showing Queen their due respect, I will apologize for the damage George W Bush has inflicted upon the world.
