A lot of you dont like it cause you just dont UNDERSTAND IT and CANT RELATE TO IT, and thats the truth, and THATS OKAY, cause you dont HAVE to like it. ( A lot of people I know cant relate to Rock music, its just not 'their thing') For example I loooooooove Queen, and my brothers listen to mostly rap, and they think Queen is gay, but I dont care, thats not gonna kill my love for them :)
I liked rap back in the 80-90's before Pac and Biggie died...now, it is honestly just a bunch of crap, and some rappers dont even rap they just yell (ex: Lil John...lol)...but a lot of the rappers who ARE GOOD, and actually have something to say, GET NO RADIO PLAY! So, you guys dont get to hear the rappers that are good. Rap groups that I liked and heard growing up: NWA, Public Enemey, RUN DMC, The Roots, Dilated Peoples, Slum Village, The Fugees, Arrested Development, Black Sheep, Salt N' Pepper (they didnt write their own raps for a long time) A tribe called Quest, De La Soul, A Tribe called Quest, Erik B and Rakim, Bone Thugs n Harmony, etc, I even liked Outkast back in the day, and still do like them :)
I know many of you guys dont believe this, but rapping does take A LOT of talent...I've been to battles before, kinda like the movie 8 mile...and let me tell you, it takes A LOT of talent, cause a lot of the rappers who battle,(sometimes they write the lyrics before hand, but a lot of them dont) they just think of the lyrics off of their HEAD!!!!

Yeah, Kanye's not the best rapper, sometimes he rhymes the same words together, like for example, in his golddigger song : 18 years, 18 years, he's got one of your kids, got you for 18 years...he's a far better producer than rapper, AND HE'S GOT AN EGO OUT OF THIS WORLD, LIKE EVERYBODY OWES HIM SOMETHING...lol

Yes, I did. In fact, back in the spring of 2002 I read about her accident in Hondurus. Kinda sad, really. She'll still be remembered as one of the talented female artists.

Yeah, it was sad, I thought my mother was lying the morning she told me...she was only 30, and she lived A CRAZY LIFE ( she burned down her boyfriend's house)...I cannot imagine dying at 30...I'm 23 now, so, no, can't imagine it.

Lady Marmalade is a song about a prostitute...using the infamous french line "Voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir"...which for non-Frenchies out there means, "Will you sleep with me tonight?". Is that the best message these girls can aspire to? Singing about how they are hot and sexy and they want to go out and get laid? What ever happend to brains and accomplishing things for yourself, other than getting every STD in the book?
"Waterfalls" has a good message...but it's also 10 years old now. Rap back then was more innovative than rap now, and most of the lyrics were at least more original.
As for the "song" by Nas...anything with drug references isn't something to admire or look up to. It's your choice, but there is more to life than being hooked on drugs. [/QUOTE]

For example, the 1975 version lyrics are "he met Marmalade down in old New Orleans..." while the 2001 version for the soundtrack were "he met Marmalade down in old Moulin Rouge." I see your point about the song's description considering the movie has some Cabaret show scenes from the early 1900s.

I'm not saying all rap is bad...some of eminems stuff has a decent message to it, and any rap that's positive is ok...I just haven't run across too many that are nowadays.
