Yeah, I've written the book, it's going to be published soon. My question, and what I was interested in hearing about, was about your children's book. You see, like you, my whole life isn't Queen, and I'm just interested in hearing about what other potential authors are doing or wish to do.

I have written several stories for children. 15-20 in all. Penguin books are interested in one in particular. I have had conversations with them.
The story is about two Scrabble-playing polar bears, one of whom cheats; makes up bogus nonsense words. But this has a twist in the tale. It's an amusing and unlikely story. I'm looking into a spoken word version. Can't say more at the moment, but it's all going ok... but really slowly.
It's a wole new world to me.
I've also written adult drama for TV and am discussing two stories with the BBC. HUGE amount of work though - sample script, character profiles, full treatment/synopsis, etc.
Slowly but surely. Once you get your foot in the door, once you get something published, it suddenly gets easier.
Agents are a complete PAIN IN THE ARSE, let me tell you.

As for my book... it's presently in England getting ready for a November 26th publishing date, so I would say (without any snarkiness, mind you!) that it would probably be best to wait until then to read it. I might give you a sample and consider sending you a PDF of a few pages.

Not sure about that. Too many nasty sods on QZ. Not appropriate for most ofthem I think.
My children's stories are low key, more or less. I talk about them with the odd person at conventions, that's all, and that suits me better. It's good fun, a nice outlet. An escape into the children's world when the adult one gets too ludicrous.
I've just finished a story which, at the very least, makes me laugh. The rest of the world may hate it. Who knows. My three nieces like it, that's good enough for me.
It's about a dog who's looking to buy a ferocious, vicious bark - yes bark - out of the evening paper... because his own is too puny and pathetic, and in order to impress the lady hounds. It's called GROWL FOR SALE. I like it.
You can see why I keep these things low key. It's just a side line thing, but I enjoy it. It's escapist fun.

I'm a social worker in an elementary school. I'm interested in anything that has to do with early childhood years and always on the look for new stimulation for our students.
I live in the United States and have never been to a convention so I haven't been able to talk to you about your children's books. I had no idea you wrote children books. I've tried to find the thread on here where you discuss it but still haven't seen it. I would say that your nieces would be a great test audience for your book, who better than your target. The books sound very interesting. Writing children's books is not as easy as it might seem. Somehow, let us know when they are available to the public. Thanks again.

My parents are doing great. Dad is retired and loving it. Mom is going to retire in March and then they are off to California in their new 36 foot RV!!!! Thanks for asking!
