Let's be a bit more realistic and not so naive.
The primary reason the likes of Brian and Bill Gates give so much to charity is for tax avoidance purposes. OK they may nominate a charity which is close to their heart, but in effect, they are only giving away what the tax man would get anyway.

Well I'm not sure how much money Brian has... but there's no way Bill Gates would ever have to worry about the taxman, really..... the guy has a personal fortune beyond the realm of human comprehension. Even if the taxman fucked him up the arse, he'd still have money for a bandaid.
Besides, isn't 'tax avoidance' the reason they invented Switzerland??

What about the time and talent they give to charity? Is that also for tax purposes?

A secondary reason for doing charity work, apart from being the saints we'd all like them to be, is prestige and exposure.
Freddie himself said it in an interview (Live Aid rehearsal's) prior to Live Aid, that part of the reason they were there was exposure - he being one of the more honest and less hypocritical stars that attended Live Aid.
Just call me cynical :-)

A no-brainer indeed. Probably because the person who proposed this hasn't got one.
I suggest you, Mr. Armstrong, read up on your fucking HISTORY, and see what the aristocracy has done for your country. Exactly. Nothing that helped the normal people the slightest bit.
Dude, is that all you know is 'you still live in the middle ages', and 'you have no brain'shit? Get a life, you are so fucking annoying.
I have a life. You clearly don't, but let's not go there now.
When someone starts waging a propaganda-war about something so sickeningly archaïc as this, I respond. If you can't take that, I suggest you go put your head on a railway track and wait for the 9:15 to your nearest major city.
WOW! You have successfully went off topic once again! But that is what i expected from a fucking Retard.
A retard? Ah yes, that would fully explain my good grades at universities. Thanks, you've explained it all!
And you accuse ME of being off-topic? My god, you're sad!

I agree that prestige and exposure are part of doing charity work when you are that famous. But it is not like it can be avoided either. They can't un-do the fame, so it is what it is.
