Considering what a private person Freddie was, I don't think he would have been happy with Jim or Peter Freestone's books.

I blame more people who buy those books. They pretend to love Freddie and they don't respect his privacy when they are tempted to have a look at it....

"they don't respect his privacy"
- Says the person who just posted a link to Freddie's will.

I think people should keep in mind when reading either Jim's or Peter's books that these are biased accounts given by the people who wrote them. Neither of these guys were fond of Mary Austin, as evidenced by their writings. I think there may have been a bit of jealousy going on as well. David Evans, who helped Peter Freestone with his book also appeared to have a bone to pick with Mary. He also mentions her in a very negative way in another book he wrote. Every one of these people have tried to diminish the relationship Mary had with Freddie and paint her as nothing more than a hanger-on who should have let go years earlier. In my opinion, Freddie's will spoke volumes and told another story when he left almost everything to her.

Mary is a down to earth person, so she takes no bull from anybody and sees thru things fast. No wonder she was close to Freddie as she was the only true to him and did not blow smoke up his ass like everybody else.

Thanks to all for their opinions I took them all into account and maybe I was being hasty and I agree on many points to you however Brenski I say IT WAS A SIMPLE QUESTION YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE RUDE!

i read the book and i also think you can't ignore that jim doesn't like mary very much, maybe also a kind of rivalry, she's his boyfriends ex-lover. i think if freddie really cared that jim and phoebe and joe stayed in his house as long as they wanted, he would have make that clear in his last will. but he wanted mary to have the garden lodge, - and he has bought jim an own house. so what's jims problem!?

Hey DeaconJohn, who told I read that will? Sorry to disappoint you, I haven't read it. Queen Headquarters is a good German website on Queen, on of my favorite, I fully visited it, that's why I knew some Freddie documents were there.
For those who want to read from Mary Austin: I think she helped writing the book "Killer Queen" (about Mick Rock awesome work), I guess she must be talking about Freddie. here's a link to the book store: http://www.genesis-publications.com/books/queen/index.html
There are some quotes on this sites. But I guess that as it is about the 70's, you won't find anything about her point of view on Hutton
