No offense but I don't think that is entirely true. I wouldn't be a fan if their releases that they have already done in all aspects weren't top form. I for one have been talking about the cover packaging and artwork of "Queen Rock Montreal". It is because of their high standards to the point that they have revolutionized certain things in the music industry that leaves me and some others scratching our heads over this cover and even the "Return Of The Champions" one.
I find that Queen fans only complain when stuff is sub-standard. Which applies to this lame ass cover, and lamer release.

The White Album and The Black Album aren't being re-re-re-re-released. Plus, Queen were always a visual band, especially live. Why not use the opportunity to show off Queen's amazing lighting rig in action? The Beatles' and Metallica's examples were statements; this is just shoddy.

The White Album and The Black Album aren't being re-re-re-re-released. Plus, Queen were always a visual band, especially live. Why not use the opportunity to show off Queen's amazing lighting rig in action? The Beatles' and Metallica's examples were statements; this is just shoddy.

Exactly. We're talking about the man behind the design of the covers of The Miracle, Greatest Hits 2 (simple, yet classic and timeless), Made in Heaven and Another World (one of my favorites).
This cover has to be an all time low in his career.
I don't mind a minimalistic approach but this reminds me of the cover of a pirate release of Queen's upbeat dance tracks that has a replicated Freddie several times on the cover.
