Small wonder old people croak - they just can't stand the shock of change any more, and it's time to pack up and get the hell outa here!! I feel like an old curmudgeon brandishing my cane at it!
Too funny... though I agree completely.

HAHAHA .... ah ah . .AHAHAHAH ....
Well no one can accuse him of miming. I was just watching that video of his big stage show, and the bit where he's on the big platform and he does a roll ... while singing .... and you hear the "TUMBLE TUMBLE FLOP" noise as he's rolling .....

Class, pure class. I'm glad there's a performing artist out there whose mic is at least turned on.

I can't stop laughing though, ahhaha.
I can't stand the song. Which is a pity because if you listen to what his voice is actually capable of ... fuck ... this guy could be doing some serious fuckin' tunes.

I guess he tripped and then rolled as a recovery. I didn't realize that was what happened. It looked like part of the act. Apparently as well as kissing that guy in the band, and shoving the other guy's face in his crotch and having that gal reach through his legs and grab his crotch he also found time to flip the bird and dig at another gal's crotch, who was over his head on a pole. Hey not bad for your debut!
I have read many reviews on this time-sucking vampire todayand had this performance called everything from a train wreck to a triumph. Rolling Stone gave him a decent review, but having had him on their cover and all I feel they have a vested interest. Many are unkind. It's a feeding frenzy at votefortheworst.com. I've heard that there were problems with the sound system all night, but that sounds a lot like making excuses. Most feel that his vocals were not up to par, and some that he shouldn't have sang live with all of the other stuff going on. I feel that it was too shocking for network TV - especially Disney-owned ABC. I'm expecting repercussions. But if he wanted attention he's certainly getting it.

It's funny how two people with clear musical common ground (Queen) can look at at something else and feel exactly opposite things. You viscerally dislike Lady GaGa and find her persona and her music manufactured and gimmicky, but see authenticity and artistry in Lambert, and I'm precisely the opposite. Funny how that goes!

I don't like the direction Adam appears to be headed in. I think he has great potential, but I don't know if he will fulfill that. He's very fond of the electronic, clubby dance music. I think it sucks. I feel as though I have been a victim of bait-and-switch at this point. Every time I hear one of his electronic creations it just makes Queen sound so much more priceless.
You are right about the Gaga thing though. Her act made Adam look good! (IMHO) I'm not saying she doesn't have talent, but just that what she does is so repulsive to me that it really doesn't matter.

I liked the album. It's not OMFG but it has some cool songs.

Honestly, hearing what he's capable of with his voice, I wish he hadn't spent so much energy fucking about on the stage and given a bit more thought to the singing.

I saw him live on CBS this morning, singing Whataya Want From Me, with his band & and some background assist. It was pretty good, with real singing and real music. As to the merits of the songs, I need time to hear them all and see how they sort themselves out for me. I do find the electronic stuff so disagreeable that if a song is comprised of a good portion of that then I can't get past that to hear anything else.
The music video is out for FYE. It is infinitely better than the AMA performance. I'll rummage around and see if I can find a link........

It's back to electro-singing, but at least there isn't that dorky suit he was wearing on the AMA's!

Much better singing to be found here; his appearance on "The Early Show" this morning.
Though she's cool and has always been very supportive, it struck me as being a little odd that his mother was there too - not too many "rock stars" are accompanied by their mothers, are they?

My Adam Lambert CD arrived a week or so ago from Amazon. I played it once in my shop and then went back to Queen. But I had about 3 hours of road time on the weekend, so I thought I would get better acquainted with it. Mid-way through the second playing, I went back to Queen. Couldn't stand the electronic sound any longer.
It is a given that I dislike the electronic music, autotune and so on. Perhaps I've mentioned that before. ;o) Getting past that, I like three songs on the CD:
Time For Miracles. I agree with Brian that Adam did a spectacular job of singing it. Really don't care about what anyone thinks about the quality of the song. Aunt Marie told me one day when I was patching cracks on these old walls and painting that she believed in wallpaper because it covered up a lot of sins. Same with mediocre songs and great singing.
Soaked. Same as above, only a better song.
Pick U Up. My favorite. It combines great singing with what I consider to be the best and most interesting song on the album.
The rest of it is fodder as far as I am concerned at this point. Perhaps becoming more familiar with the songs would bring out more nuances that would improve my opinion. Will that happen? Dunno.
