when you say to that there's 'identical' shots of the bigscreen video out somewhere, where do you mean?  where are they used, in documentary or else where?   i trust you when you say they 'identical' but even i'd like to check for myself or to do my own comparison in photo shop

Maybe this will help : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65kyfFIzigs

Check the part from 0:24, there I'm cutting between the AUD shot and the PRO shot. The same thing is e.g. in Now I"m Here

very interested that edit, thankyou

i havent done to an exact photo shop comparison yet but it is very possibly that there was a film camera right near the TV camera, in this example you show.   tv footage from the mid eighties (and earlier and later) has artifacts of banding and other ugly features that arent in the 'high quality' video you are using.  its very obvious to see when you watch the friday night show of wembely.  it to me almost certain that the high quality is film footage and not from a tv camera

also to watch the moment of roger crossing freddie cape, and freddie turning his head to the floor, in the low quality roger is almost 'crossing over' but to freddie's head stands still,  then in high quality roger goes back and crosses again and then only this time freddie begins to look down, so they are definitley not from the same camera (although clear that they must be sitting near to each and one an other)

i am not to be one of those people who swears to there is no copy of the TV feed of knebworth show, maybe it is even out there  somewhere .....   but looks very much like the shot you have is not from that feed.    but thank you for the link it is great video i have not seen yet on this site

It's hard to tell because of the low quality and different frames, but it looks as though the screen feed is slightly below and to the right of Doros camera, looking upwards. Is all the "identical stuff", filmed from this angle (left side of the stage)?

DoRo doesn't seem to know what they have, it all seems to be labeled under "magic tour", so maybe IT's a highly unlikely single a camera feed that nobody at Queen Productions knows about.

slightly off topic, It will never happen, but if they pieced together all their knebworth stuff it would sell.  Even thought it would be 4 full songs + snippets and the backstage stuff.

I hope that they'll pack in whatever they have in terms of pro-shot footage from Knebworth on the bonus-disc of "Live In Budapest".

Blimey - now that stuff seriously needs some proper investigating.  I won't ask how you came about it!

With film companies like DoRo etc..., is there ever any opportunity to buy old reels of film that they aren't interested in the contents of and are seen as simply taking up space in their vaults?  They obviously don't care what is on it and clearly have never archived it.

That would probably explain why Greg claims THEY don't have it in the archives :-)

Mmm - very interesting indeed! They look like the old high end broadcast quality telecine tape format - I have a film of mine on this stuff from 1987. The other pro quality tape formats at that time were Hi and Lowband U-Matics which I have tapes of (including the outer boxes) - but the above are not these. U-Matic boxes were thinner. What is written on the white labels? Is it just the brand or is it the logo of a transfer prod. co ?

That is some interesting video tape boxes. Considering it was filmed in 86, it would probably be 1 inch Type C reel video. There’s way over 2 hours of stuff there if it is. Looks to be some wider storage boxes too.

Whether or not anything is in them is another matter, Also looks like a Magnetic Reference Laboratory calibration tape.

This is based on my extremely limited knowledge, so it’s probably very wrong.

The Quo Pic is either from Knebworth '86 oder someone took a QUEEN-flag (the one under the Japan-flag) to a Quo concert....
It's also Freddie's Steinway on the left.
